Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 18, 2015 4:44 pm We paid our deposit in June 2013 and signed a preliminary works agreement with BGC Commodore Homes and now 28 months later we are still waiting for the house to be finished. We are building a standard 4x2 at Baldivis. We had finance approved , land titled, floor plan chosen so everything should have been straight forward. I am just wondering how many other people have experienced similar delays with this builder. Re: Building with BGC Commodore Homes. 3Oct 18, 2015 9:18 pm Sorry to hear this. This is completely unacceptable, 28 months is just not right! Commodore is always in news for bad reasons. You deserve to get liquidity damages, are you thinking to sue the builder? I am building with Impressions and so far it has been great journey. Our build - Moved In! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=79629 Re: Building with BGC Commodore Homes. 4Oct 18, 2015 9:36 pm We will be seeking compensation, the money we had set aside to complete the house ie: interior painting , floor tiling etc has all gone now on bank interest and 3 years of council rates etc. Re: Building with BGC Commodore Homes. 6Oct 18, 2015 11:53 pm We are building in Highbury Park. I believe the time period in the contract is void if they have bad weather or trade shortages. They wrote to us early in the construction phase and said they had problems finding brick layers. Re: Building with BGC Commodore Homes. 7Oct 18, 2015 11:55 pm AntiBGC 1+ We are building in Highbury Park. I believe the time period in the contract is void if they have bad weather or trade shortages. They wrote to us early in the construction phase and said they had problems finding brick layers. I would check with the building association/commission. There is one down the road from us that would be over 2 years as well with commodore. Where are they up to on your home? Re: Building with BGC Commodore Homes. 8Oct 19, 2015 8:50 am They could possibly finish the house in 2 days. But the bricklayer did not build the bulkhead above the fridge/ freezer recess and they have known about this since February. They have offered cupboards above the fridge to resolve the issue. They have done about 15 minutes work in 7 weeks. Re: Building with BGC Commodore Homes. 9Oct 19, 2015 10:06 am Oh no not good can they do cupboards and then kickboard where the bulk head would be up to the roof? Sucks that they didn't rectify it in February! My partners uncle is building through a company which is backed by BGC and his whole house is finished and then he was told they couldn't get the keys as the stone bench company they were using went bust they have now been waiting months and been told they are just awaiting them to get another contract for stone. It's so annoying Re: Building with BGC Commodore Homes. 10Oct 19, 2015 8:12 pm They advertise that their homes are such good value. But when you factor in all the additional interest and other costs while you wait to get your home finished the value is gone. I just can't believe how badly this has turned out. Commodore homes seems to think 28 months to build a standard 4x2 is normal. They seem surprised that I am so angry. Re: Building with BGC Commodore Homes. 11Oct 19, 2015 10:52 pm That's dreadful service!! Check through your contract & complain to Builders Registration Board to see if you have a claim against them. We are building with New Generation Homes (part of Summit Group) and they have been fantastic! Slab went down 14/6/15, we were at Lock up on 27/9 and looking at PCI around mid November and moving in early December. That's 6 months!!. Great SS., really quick to resolve any issues & great quality!! We will be building with them again, for sure!!! I would complain loud and often to anyone in the company you can speak to, and tell them you are on social media telling all about your bad experiences. You Re paying a lot of money and deserve to be heard & treated with respect. They have annoyed you!!! Now return the favour & annoy them!!!! Good luck... ++++++++++++ New Generation Homes 'Odyssey' at Whiteman Edge Our Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76967&start=20 Re: Building with BGC Commodore Homes. 12Oct 19, 2015 11:45 pm Thanks Purplenetti for you comments. It does not make any difference what you say or how loud you say it, they don't seem to realise what they bare doing to peoples lives. My wife now refuses to move into the house because of the constant delays and financial strain of the past 28 months. We will probably have to sell the house if it ever gets finished. Re: Building with BGC Commodore Homes. 13Oct 20, 2015 10:04 pm I just worry that other people will fall victim to the trap that we fell into. You make the big decision to build a new home and it all turns sour. We have scraped through paying two mortgages for 28 months. It would be a lot worse for a young couple who finally save a home deposit only to have it eroded in extra interest and charges because of extensive delays. Re: Building with BGC Commodore Homes. 15Oct 21, 2015 8:40 pm Thanks Natalie92, we need to warn as many people in any way we can. We were only hours from signing up with Gemill when we made the mistake of going into a Commodore Display and the salesman said we can build that house. If we had gone with Gemill this house would have been finished more than a year ago. We know of at least 6 homes that were signed up after us and they have all been in their homes for months. Needless to say they didn't build with BGC. Re: Building with BGC Commodore Homes. 16Nov 05, 2015 9:15 pm It has taken 29 months , but we finally have PCI scheduled for tomorrow. Hopefully Commodore Homes have finally finished this house. It has been so frustrating watching all our neighbours moving into their new homes and ours was sitting dormant. Re: Building with BGC Commodore Homes. 18Dec 01, 2015 10:19 pm Things didn't go as well as we had hoped. At prestart we had arranged to prelay hot and cold water supply in the walk in pantry in case we wanted to turn it into a scullery or butlers pantry in the future. Commodore Homes installed a floor waste grate similar to other wet areas in case the sink overflows. A good idea I thought , but they didn't connect it to the drainage system. When I poured water down the drain a wet patch appeared under the bedroom wall. They suggested they would remove the grate and fill the hole with concrete. Well that was a fortnight ago and I haven't heard from them since. Re: Building with BGC Commodore Homes. 19Dec 02, 2015 9:48 am It is so sad to see the situation you are in. Build a house supposed to a wonderful experience. My mum and dad also has been burned by BGC too and that was 10 years ago statement homes. They haven't change one bit. Re: Building with BGC Commodore Homes. 20Dec 02, 2015 7:42 pm I tried to phone them today to find out when we will get our house but all I got was a recorded message saying to leave my details and they will call me back. That shows their level of customer service. I could have been a property investor wanting to build 10 houses. If I was building even 1 house it wouldn't be with any BGC company. We are building a house that was planned to be clad in Hardie Linea, our builder has now requested to swap this for BGC Nuline Plus. They look fairly similar and he has… 0 554 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74688 I would never build with Fowler homes.
