Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 15, 2008 1:01 pm Hi after reading the post about the slowest builder i just had to agree! My husband and i are also building with Clarendon homes. We actually have a blog on homeone (bruneau shack) which has not been updated in a very long time. Mainly because there is nothing to update on.
We have a young son and a baby daughter and are at the moment paying rent whilst building. Our excitment for the new house has all but vanished along with our funds.. after signing the contract last year we are still only halfway through bricking. We have had countless problems with our CSR not answering any phonecalls. yes i have sent many emails, left messages etc to no avail. We have upgraded many items (and paid hugely for it) and the upgraded items are on our plans but not thiers.... Apparently there is only one brickie per 3 houses clarendon builds.. in 10 weeks there has been approx 3 weeks worth of work. Needless to say if we were to build again it would not be with Clarendon, nor would we reccomend anyone else do.. Re: Slowest Builder... 4Jul 15, 2008 2:48 pm we first looked at tenders in April last year (even that was an ordeal) so i guess we should have seen what was coming.,
contracts were signed late last year. We were told something would start before christmas though it never did. The communication problems we have had with Clarendon have been endless. our CSR has also changed 3 times.(and we are only at bricking stages) our site supervisor is very vague and tells us to contact our CSR for updates. The only thing that we seem to get on time with Clarendon is the request for payment. Although we have noticed when we kick up a fuss they tend to give us things for free or discount prices on upgrades etc.. Our kids are fed up (the one that can talk) and so are we.. I do not even tnink we will be in for xmas though they are telling us it will be the end of september. Re: Slowest Builder... 5Jul 15, 2008 3:09 pm Here is an easy one,
Turn up on a Saturday outsie theyr display home, and lte people now what is going on. Dont be rude, just be truthfull. There is nothing illegal about telling the truth, and footpaths are generally council property. if you are not hastling customer,s you generally haven nothing to wory about. When the sales people come outside, tell them that you have had enough, and that you will continue to share your experiences until your house is moving again. If you stick to the facts, you have nothing to fear. Is there a clause iny our contract that talks about late fees and contractual timelines for late construction? I'm sorry you have to go through this. Are you building in Sydney? Perhaps giving Fair Trading a call, they may be able to give some advice. It is better to email when making a request because then you will have records of their reply or lack of reply.. Good Luck. If you need an outlet to vent your dissatisfaction, this is the best place Re: Slowest Builder... 8Jul 15, 2008 9:44 pm heymama The only thing that we seem to get on time with Clarendon is the request for payment. Oh, how familiar is that! With the first invoice, I got myself in a real tizz worrying we hadn't paid it in time. I've learnt my lesson now - they can wait....like we do Quote: I do not even tnink we will be in for xmas though they are telling us it will be the end of september Wow - they're actually giving you a date are you building a 2 storey house? I keep hearing about this brickie shortage - at least our bricks were done in a relatively quick time frame and I was really pleased with the quality - that was until the last 2 days or so, when it was clearly obvious a totally different tradesman completed the job in a real big hurry.......GRRRRR Built a Clarendon 'Balmain' 2008 Re: Slowest Builder... 9Jul 16, 2008 9:39 am yes we are building a two story (the madison) we love love love the design and think it would be perfect for our family. they only gave me a rough date because i am at them everyday.
we are happy with the quality of the work its just the speed that worries me. our bricking came to a standstill right near the nd which is the most frustrating. i have since spoken to our csr and she has told us that after bricking (and the shortages with bircklayers) tihngs should move along a lot faster.. however this would leave two monoths to do the entire inside of the house.. Re: Slowest Builder... 10Jul 16, 2008 11:59 am At least its good to know all Clarendon homes customers are treated alike ! i was worried for a while.
Our plight is they have still not started and waiting on estimation to send the job to our site Supervisor. How do they compensate for these delays ? do they give any freebies to make up for the loss ? Well this is indeed a good idea.. all we have to do is get together and go there on a Saturday / Sunday morning and hand out letters with facts ! This is GREAT Advice...i'd go as far as print a Tshirt with the slogan " Free advice on this builder". Only risk here is if they find out who you are then it could be worse b/c they'll give you a harder time. But on the other hand it may be enough for them to give you some priority. Let me k now how its goes Hi Mofflepop, I would recommend finding a building designer to prepare plans, they should design to your specified budget. The benefit is you can tender the project out… 9 20355 Yes, I have. But, I haven't paid yet. They know they did not do proper jobs and I sent the email re: final payment, I cannot pay. They said, we will do 2nd PCI. Since… 2 5486 |
