So we have say yes, let us know if you do enter it and when we need it looking showroom prefect ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 1064Feb 28, 2017 3:57 pm Hi Shel, Hope you are enjoying the new place and your garage door is fixed... I need your opinion on this My neighbour raised his ground level by about a meter and I lowered by 20 cm... if we do fencing on the boundary, we might need to put 3 sleepers and a the fence on top of it (so neither of us need a retaining wall)... but I met a fencer yesterday and he said he will not do more than one sleeper height and retaining wall should always be a standalone structure and should not be part of a fence for structural integrity reasons.... I noticed your retaining wall is 3 sleepers high and attached to the fence.. did you use a thicker fence post than the standard 1.5 mil? what else you did? Thanks Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 1065Mar 22, 2017 9:32 am Hi Shel, Have you unsubscribed from your thread Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 1066Mar 22, 2017 9:40 am Hey Reg! That sounds similar between ours and our neighbour. We are doing a retaining wall on the boundary with the fence on top. The landscaper has said not to use anything less than a 75mm thick sleeper so as it won't warp and bow. I think they were planning to build the retaining wall and then install the fence on top instead of installing the sleepers between the longer fence posts. - otherwise known as Kym - Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 1067Mar 22, 2017 9:37 pm Sorry reg. We had a landscaper suggest putting the fence on top. However each post is on a steel sleeper post and the fence is screwed to that steel and not the wood then it was cemented in with the steel sleeper posts. We used 75mm sleepers and there was enough gap to still slide them into the steel sleeper posts. This is our sleeper posts Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Then the colourbond post was screwed to the outside. We also had a sleeper post in the middle - so basically a fencing panel is 2.35m so we had a sleeper post at about 1.2m apart. So every second post had fencing attached. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 1068Mar 27, 2017 8:26 pm We finally have our front gate up and now have an enclosed backyard feels great to feel privacy. I didn't get a photo though. Now to start the framing for another garden bed under our bedroom windows. Not sure what to plant there though. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 1069Mar 29, 2017 10:03 am Pics shell!!! - otherwise known as Kym - Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 1070Mar 29, 2017 10:03 am After being in for a few months, how is it?? Still loving it? - otherwise known as Kym - Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 1071Mar 30, 2017 1:19 pm Not the best photo as the rain from the cyclone has reached us. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Now to finish that part of the garden beds border as I hadn't fixed it in as I needed to have the fence up first. Will post a front on once it's dry again. It's been six months, still love my house but so over mud and dirt and landscaping. Basically for 3-4 months it's been to hot to work outside hoping now it's cooling down we can finish everything else off before our 1 year anniversary in the house. I'm very glad we added the 0.5m to the bedrooms side of the house otherwise they would feel really cramped. I do wish my pantry was bigger and I don't have enough storage space in the kitchen for everything I have so a lot of things I need but don't use often - like cake tins, cake containers etc are in drawers in the garage. However with this block we couldn't do anything about it - but if we built this house on another block I would def add a metre to length and make pantry bigger. Also wish I placed a PowerPoint in the broom cupboard now I have a cordless dyson, so have it installed in the garage for the power to charge. We also plan to one day (like 5 year plan) to add double internal sliders to the lounge room - be nice to shut off to the rest of the house in there. We do still love the house and it fits us perfectly. The older boys will be both gone in 4 more years if they follow their army plan and then it will be only 3 of us here and the house will def feel much bigger then. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 1072Apr 10, 2017 12:42 am So question about lighting - outside. I feel like I need another light out the front eave. Here it currently is Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ So basically I have one of either side of the garage door, one at the front door (or middle of portico) then one at the other corner of the house. But I'm thinking it looks not quite right - like there should be another light on that side. They are on different switches so we don't have to have them all on if we don't want too. The kids drawers don't fit in their wardrobes so looks like we will be doing robe fitouts sooner than later The fence looks great! I'm looking forward to having privacy. I can't believe it's been 6months! - otherwise known as Kym - Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 1074Apr 10, 2017 12:31 pm I thought about it Shell and put one on garage and one on pillar .. same on the other side, one on the bedroom wall and the other on the other pillar The light on the left side of your garage looks like it is deep ...like your new position... one on the pillar will be nice and serve the purpose... Re: Our First Build - GJ Gardener Bridgewater 1075Apr 17, 2017 10:22 pm They are all in the eaves and centered, I think I agree with you guys, will have to arrange to get another one installed. Kim - did you have shelves in your robes? I had one side shelves and other hanging so it didn't matter that the kids drawers didn't fit. Good bit meant drawers for storage in the garage. I have finally unpacked my garage - I think total time was like 72 hours . I have my new door installed Wednesday so finally be able to drive into my garage. Other side it setup like a workshop.
