Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 03, 2015 11:09 am Hi, My partner and I have purchased a block at Macquarie Hills. There is about 4m slope front to back. We would really like to come in under $280,000 (turn key) for the construction of our home. We need four bedrooms, but no pressing need for additional media room/study/family room etc. Just wanting to know if this is achievable or not? If not, we will look at selling off the land and starting again with something flat or buying a house. Any advice would be appreciated. Re: Sloping Block on a Budget 2Oct 07, 2015 1:34 pm We have just purchased a sloping block too. I would love to hear what people have to say. Re: Sloping Block on a Budget 4Nov 18, 2015 2:52 pm We are in outer metro Melbourne and are building a 27 square one storey house on a sloping block (2m slope side to side) - price has come in at just under $280,000.00. This includes the site costs, evap cooling, all flyscreens (including the sliding doors) about $15,000.00 of upgrades (carpet, kitchen, driveway and various other upgrades). This also includes evap cooling, though only the basic lighting. We have a sparky friend who we will pay $5,000.00 or so after handover to do all the lighting for us. So it probably is do-able, though a 4m slope is quite significant (depending on how long the block is) so you may have to look at split level, which may add to the cost..... good luck My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: Sloping Block on a Budget 5Nov 19, 2015 10:42 am We were looking at the same thing. We have a sloping block with the same amount of slope at the front. Building in Northwestern Sydney. However, each builder we have been to has said around $270-280K for the house itself. Upgrades and site costs are in addition to this. Site costs we've been given for our block by one builder is $35K!!! Split level would cost heaps more. We are having 4 bedrooms and a small media room at the front. Mind you, I think the cost could have potentially been reduced with that room gone. But the way the design was, it wouldn't have been conducive to remove it because it would have messed with the whole layout of the house and been completely custom. We made a few changes to their floor plan. And because our block is not rectangular but irregular, we had to use a plan that was sort of L shaped. Give Jonathan a call. Tell him you know me. He is in my opinion the best surveyor I have ever worked with. Just shoot out some emails to volume builders in… 3 18545 Howdy all. I am looking for feedback on what people would do to maximise and make an area as flat as possible. First, out the front of the house is a sloping hill, pretty… 0 20137 |
