Still touch and go whether we'll get in before Christmas. Things done in the last 4 days: Garage completed - zero lot boundary done, plastering, painting, retaining outside New gravel dumped in prep for driveway Shower screens in Floorboard fix (couple needed replacing) Internal door handles in Tile caulking completed Robe shelving done Carpet is booked in for next Wed for our 2 rooms, then that should be it. Some obligatory bad phone pics. SM called, he's still really trying to push to get us in before Christmas. I might email him a list of things that I've picked up so he's pre-prepared for our walkthrough. The house does look good though. Been stocking up on plants as we have a fairly comprehensive landscaping plan, so lots of trawling through nurseries. Can't wait to get stuck into the garden, however struggling to get quotes back from tradies. Our custom made couches arrived in the shop today, went and checked them out but no pics as they were wrapped in plastic. Really wanted to just lie down on them. Re: KDR: Metricon Signature Split Level Sloping Block 165Nov 03, 2017 9:36 pm omg amazing progress !!! looks so good. you must be super excited to get in I bet. Re: KDR: Metricon Signature Split Level Sloping Block 167Nov 29, 2017 7:09 am We had PCI last Friday. Unfortunately the night before a pipe burst in the solar unit, flooding the laundry, ensuite and WIR. The laundry and ensuite are fine (apart from some skirts / plaster that need to be replaced), but the WIR cabinetry will need to be redone, and we're monitoring the floorboards for damage. As such, definitely not getting in before Christmas, but like I said to the SM - I'd much prefer that this happened before handover. At least the house is empty and they can fix it properly. Re: KDR: Metricon Signature Split Level Sloping Block 168Nov 29, 2017 8:29 am Oh bummer. But at least easily fixed now rather than later. Re: KDR: Metricon Signature Split Level Sloping Block 169Nov 29, 2017 9:08 am Damn unlucky! But yes definitely better now than when you move in later. Re: KDR: Metricon Signature Split Level Sloping Block 170Nov 29, 2017 9:32 am Just out of curiosity - what type, and brand of hot water service do you have on the roof? Chromagen solar with instant gas backup? What actually failed? Do you think it was a manufacturing fault within the unit or a fault with the installation? Re: KDR: Metricon Signature Split Level Sloping Block 172Nov 29, 2017 10:05 pm Bummer sorry to hear about the solar. My next door neighbour townhouse had he same issue last year apparently it's a common thing with some brands. Hope they fix everything for you. Fingers crossed Re: KDR: Metricon Signature Split Level Sloping Block 173Nov 30, 2017 6:44 am It was a pipe failure - literally one of the pipes burst. SM showed me yesterday - let's hope that no other pipes do the same thing when we move in. The pipe had been under pressure for 6+ months though before it failed... strange. Anyway, as a result, they need to (and there's no argument - they were really good about it) Replace Master Bed wall & full insulation swap out Replace cabinetry in WIR Replace skirts & some arcs throughout hall, WIR, laundry and some bed Replace entire hallway, WIR & half bedroom floorboards A costly exercise for their insurer, I think. But I'm so glad I got the floorboards done through their provider, and that it wasn't after handover! Re: KDR: Metricon Signature Split Level Sloping Block 174Nov 30, 2017 7:26 am So this is the floor that needs replacing - no comment required, pretty obvious. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The rest of the floor is beautiful though. Overall, pretty happy with the house, just lots of little bits and pieces to fix up before handover (plus the large bit of replacement required from the plumbing disaster!). Re: KDR: Metricon Signature Split Level Sloping Block 176Dec 31, 2017 7:58 am Not much action here - all damaged areas were ripped out before Christmas, all the lower floor, some plaster, some insulation, all arcs and skirts, and all the WIR cabinetry. See when they rebuild it and then do defect fixes.. Metricon may have to start paying us as our contract is up in late Jan. Re: KDR: Metricon Signature Split Level Sloping Block 177Jan 22, 2018 8:41 am So it's true, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Haven't been inside the house for over a month, haven't heard from the SM for that amount of time either (strange, normally he's excellent...). Forgot how nice a house it was, especially compared to the horrible rental we're living in. Plumbers were there today installing the final missing sink. The damaged floor has been replaced in the bottom half of the house, insulation and plaster redone, now it is just paint and arcs / skirts to go back on and then floor polished, and remaining defects fixed.. so close. It'll be worth it when its done, but geez its taking a while. Had a phone survey today from M... 15/10 for our current and previous CSC, 0/10 for our first I've who's left. They asked me what they could do better. The nice lady on the phone is taking up or other issue to see what can be done (fingers crossed) Our Bayside KDR Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78298 Re: KDR: Metricon Signature Split Level Sloping Block 179Jan 24, 2018 3:12 pm SM has been in touch and I've walked through the place with him, relatively happy. He's saying mid-Feb for handover. I won't be around, so the OH will have to do the honours.. I have my doubts though, reckon it will be end-Feb.
