Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: PD Rowland 41 142Aug 23, 2008 7:54 pm shazburger, not sure if the alfresco/porch slab is "standard" but you can certainly have it. We were asked if we wanted it and we said no, thought it was a waste of $$ to pay for the alfresco slab and then deck over it. With our porch it will be part of the driveway so we left that off too. I'm sure if you ask them at tender/contract or even your CSC beforehand they should be able to tell you. Happy at Home Re: PD Rowland 41 143Aug 24, 2008 9:34 pm thanks guys will see what i can get out of them for nothing...LOL
We were wanting a slab instead of decking anyway...decking is so expensive. Re: PD Rowland 41 144Aug 25, 2008 8:36 pm After speaking to our SS today I am confident he is pushing things along.
He has ordered Tiles, Facias and Gutters, Sparkies, Plumbers and Brickies all for immediate action. The frame should also be finished on Thursday all being well. Todays pics. I signed tender with PD during first week of August and they advised that it is standard from now on for customers, so we have got it as standard at no cost. I am sure of this as i signed the contract today and its included in the contract drawings and no charge... whoopeeee Re: PD Rowland 41 149Aug 25, 2008 10:15 pm Wow! Quick chippies over your way! Looking great. Roof will be on before you know it! Happy at Home Re: PD Rowland 41 151Aug 27, 2008 9:11 pm UPDDATE.
Roof trusses have been installed. Ground floor windows installed. A few more finishing touches before the frame inspection on Friday and the the facia, gutters and roof tiles can be installed. All move along very nicely but we are still waiting for the first major hickup. He seems like a decent bloke who enjoys what he does and is willing to help wherever he can. Despite a bit of a delay in the frame stage due to working out the kinks in the Rowland 41 (as we are the first to be built) - all is progressing well and we seem to be back on schedule.
Infact, unlike some of the threads posted on the forum, would have to say we are very happy with our PD CSC and SS. They are accessible and reply to all messages promptly. We are only in the early stages so hopefully we will be lucky enough to keep these two for the rest of the build - fingers crossed. The bricks are due to be delivered in next couple of days, together with plumbing and electrical start. However, we have been warned that brickies are hard to find (as DGs Cremorne already knows) so will more than likely have a bit of a wait for the brickies to start on site! We know he is booked to start in a week - but will just wait and see as he has two jobs to finish before ours. Best of all, our roof tiles were laid today so now our house has a lid on it! On first inspection we were not sure the bricks were the colour we had chosen. A quick trip to Boral on Saturday confirmed they were the right brick but very different to the colour sample we had agreed on at our colour selection. This just shows you really have to see a whole house fully bricked before you make such an important decision. Plenty of action this week already. Scaffold has been removed. Remaining first floor windows installed Ducted vacuum installed. Bi-fold doors installed. Plumbing rough in finished. Electrical rough in started. Plaster has been delivered and stacked in the family room. Bad news. No brickie. Plaster delivery men knocked down the bracing on the alfresco frame. Between the wind and the rain today they finally made an appearance and managed to brick one of the garage walls. Although the brick colour is not quite what we thought it would be (too light), it doesn't look too bad in the wall?? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I know we have read in other threads that the off white mortar appears to be grey when first layed, but have a look at how grey ours appears. Hopefully this will dry to a nice off white colour in the next couple of days Unfortunately with all the rain today the plaster (that for some reason was delivered a couple of weeks ago) is now wet. Has this happened to anyone else? Should we be worried about the quality of the plaster once it dries out or will it be fine? Hopefully the brickies will come back tomorrow and brick another wall or too. Re: PD Rowland 41 160Sep 22, 2008 9:39 pm hey ggitt, can i ask what bricks u chose? they look the same as ours (Boral Eureka) which got delivered last week...and i am uncertain about it too...
The bricks that have been laid look great though! and i lvoe the bi-folds! prettty!! |
