Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building in Baldivis WA - NBN & Lighting Questions 3Mar 10, 2016 10:09 am Hearny87 Hi, We have just put a deposit on a black in Baldivis Parks estate. There are a few things I am not familiar with yet. Firstly to make sure we have NBN connection once the build is complete what do we have to organize? What sort of costings are we looking at? Secondly Most the plans we like say 1 LED light per room. To prepare ourselves for extra costs what would people suggest is a good amount of lighting and the general cost to get there? I would love any feedback from people that have just done something similar? Hi Hearny87, We are also building in Baldivis This is our first build. I thought I'd offer some food for thought regarding lighting. It was suggested to us to go for a single plug base in the ceilings as then you are able to install your own downlights after handover. As we can source our own downlights, I have no doubt that it is going to be a more affordable option. From what other helpful members on this forum have said - the builder will provide and install plug bases and then junction boxes can be installed if required (which allows you to extend cabling to suit your lighting positions). Maybe have a chat to your building consultant to ask about the option of plug bases instead of a single LED or bayonet.
