Re: Downlights? 4Sep 12, 2015 9:14 am The most efficient and practical lighting solution is to have plain bare globes (CFL or LED) in a standard batten fix fitting. They also seem to have better quality connections than a lot of fittings. However, most people don't like the aesthetics of this, so then things become a compromise between the practicalities and aesthetics. There's no way you'd go with halogen downlights, but LED fittings overcome some of the worst issues of halogen, and now aren't such a bad choice. They're still quite expensive, but then so are a lot of the other fittings that people would put in a room instead. Re: Downlights? 7Sep 13, 2015 4:24 pm We're doing that too Lindell Looking forward to seeing our lovely pendants ... are part of our deco theme. Re: Downlights? 8Sep 13, 2015 4:50 pm I think downlights are far superior to what they were years ago. They no longer run hot and you dont have to purchase ones that just have the light going straight down which means you need less per room. We have both led downlights and pendants and the mix is really cool. A mate did research ++ into quality and efficiency and we chose Pak down lights, natural daylight. Our sparky was so impressed he recommends these all the time now. Downlights? 9Sep 14, 2015 4:30 pm Rache I think downlights are far superior to what they were years ago. Got them from ozlighting.com.au No globe changing - you just change the whole unit. I just ordered a few extra. Have not had any problems with them and the light is really good. I have only 8 in a 10 x 5m living area on 2 switches and both sides dimmable. Also have them in the bathrooms - only 2 in each. You don't have too much prob with glare and shadow ie thru are fairly diffuse? That's my main worry with down lights but hubby really wants them . What did you use in your bedrooms? |
