Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Coral homes - Stradbroke 29 NSW 42Sep 29, 2015 7:29 pm I think you have to expect these things with a build I guess. Wow 13th variation!! Gee that would have been a nightmare going through head office were you dealing with them for long? Ok, I love the neo modern kitchen, of all the kitchens it was by far my favourite and I love the bulkhead that comes out above the cabinetry. So you got the flooring for free through a promotion? There are always things you will find that you could have saved money after handover..I guess sometimes we are paying for convenience. I havent seen their recent deals but I know the elegance was better than the indulgence it had the 2100 tiling in the bathrooms and a few other things. We upgraded the stone to 40mm waterfall, because we had a standard colour it wasnt too expensive to do. Great what are your tiles called, we have two shades of grey for the bathrooms, city grey and euphoria charcoal. Have no idea how it will look together I think I spent more time at the tile appt running after kids trying to avoid tile breakages haha. When will they start the tiling, after the painting? Dont be silly, love seeing your pics!! Helpful for others to see a few stradbrokes anyway Really love the cabinetry, makes the house look nice and light, and your laundry still looks huge haha. Its coming along nicely!! Whats with the water by your retaining wall? Re: Coral homes - Stradbroke 29 NSW 43Sep 29, 2015 9:30 pm Yes we were dealing with head office for ages, we probably went to contact a bit early. I wish we pushed for another tender instead of going to contact, we had to extend it contact 3 times which cost us a total over 7k. It was mainly because of our local council. Yes we got flooring for free with inspiration, but we still spent heaps on rectified edge tile labour. Our main for tiles are 600x600 aura bone. Bathrooms are a white gloss tile 600x300 and alto smoke grey tiles. We have drainage down the back of the house where the wall is but they haven't put in the grates so it just pools there. Re: Coral homes - Stradbroke 29 NSW 44Sep 30, 2015 2:54 pm WOW!!! Ahhh I would be spewing if that happened. Were they in a rush to get you to contract but you weren't ready? Local council wouldn't approve your plans? Hmmmm yep they dont miss you with that tile labour! The rectified tiles look beautiful though, will be worth it in the end . Tiles sound lovely for the bathrooms, looking forward to seeing it come together! Have you got quotes for your window furnishings yet? I've organised to get some done this coming Tuesday, maybe a little early but don't want to be stuck without them, especially because we've just got regular window glass in the bathrooms haha Re: Coral homes - Stradbroke 29 NSW 45Sep 30, 2015 8:20 pm murray223 WOW!!! Our block fell under heritage requirements because of some fossils on our site, we told coral about this and how to address it based on what neighbouring properties did on there applications, coral did nothing, so it had to be changed and cost us 28 days. The also didn't provide a good enough drainage diagram in the application which cost us another 26 days, the bush fire report that coral ordered wasn't sufficient and was incorrect so it had to be referred to the rural fire service.. another 30 days. It would be great if council just listed everything that was wrong at the start and they could have worked on it all at once, instead we would get past one hurdle only to be told the next issue! We have someone coming out for blinds Friday next week. although I'm thinking of getting them online and fitting ourselves. we went frosted in the bathrooms. droped by today and painters have got first coat on! Re: Coral homes - Stradbroke 29 NSW 47Oct 06, 2015 7:16 pm A bit of an update finally. We met with the ss today, kitchen and bathroom vanities should be installed Thursday or Friday, then the tiler can come back and complete the wall tiling in the wet areas, and then the painter can come in, and then we can finallllyyyy get some information on when this build is going to end! The only noticeable progress we have had in a while...wet area floor tiling! Our Painters finished today, we have to get wet areas tiled, the rest of the house tiled and carpeted, and everything fitted off Re: Coral homes - Stradbroke 29 NSW 49Oct 06, 2015 7:36 pm Oh did they, thats really good sebjub! I assume it is the same as you..plus painting and installing the kitchen and vanities? When you put the list like that is doesnt seem too long! Now that painting is finished have they given you some sort of estimate for a finish? Re: Coral homes - Stradbroke 29 NSW 50Oct 06, 2015 8:08 pm Nope, we haven't had much contact with the SS for a while, I have been talking to the trades more than him. One of our kitchen benches had to be made smaller as it didn't fit the Oven, glad they worked it out now and now at the end when they went to fit the oven. how long till they have your kitchen back in? Re: Coral homes - Stradbroke 29 NSW 51Oct 07, 2015 11:03 am Oh have you. We weren't allowed on site unless our supervisor was there, who we just found out no longer works for coral..might explain the lack of activity that has gone on the last six weeks or so! No idea about the kitchen now all this has happened, think our construction manager is a bit overwhelmed with all the new work he's just picked up. Good catch with the kitchen benches you don't want to deal with that later on! Re: Coral homes - Stradbroke 29 NSW 52Oct 07, 2015 5:13 pm I am not sure if we are allowed, if trades are there I just go in and talk to them. Besides the initial site meeting I haven't ever seen our site supervisor. We just got a new Supervisor today, hopefully he keeps everything on track. I was hoping painters would only take a week but it looks like 2 weeks is more like it. Re: Coral homes - Stradbroke 29 NSW 56Oct 09, 2015 11:49 am Hey guys, builds are looking great. We just got our colour variation through. Did anyone else get off white mortar? We are getting half the house rendered so off white mortar is to the face brick only but still came in at $1096....does this seem reasonable? We are having grey stone bricks and am wondering whether to just go with natural mortar...I can't seem to see any pics of how this will look? Think ours was $800ish Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 14370 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4379 Hi all, We are considering Enigma 46 from Mojo Homes in Gables, NSW. Has anyone built with Mojo and any pointers and feedback. Also, if anyone has built similar design… 0 13289 |
