Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 07, 2015 3:37 pm Who has built a house with Gemmill and what is your honest opinion on the whole process esp the end product? We are currently in the process of looking at putting an offer on a block of land and Gemmill has the best plan that suits our families needs out of other companies. So far i have been talking to them and they seem really good. They are drafting changes to the plan straight away to give me costs and get back to me promptly via email which i love. im hoping their great communication skills is a sign they are a good company though i have read some negative reviews that worry me. However every company i google seems to have negative reivews of some sort. Were there hidden costs involved with Gemmill that you were hit with at the end? Re: Gemmill homes perth 2Sep 09, 2015 7:17 pm I work in a trade paint centre, so I constantly have people coming in to look at colours, they are always at the end of the building process so I hear a lot of complaints about builders. Gemmill never came up during a customers whining! I have never heard a complaint from any of the tradesmen about their accounts with Gemmil but I did alot about some others who I wont name. To me this indicates a well managed company. Now this is a Perth southern store, so the statistic is pretty specific to that area. Internet is a very bad place to do research, but hopefully this forum will turn up a large number of replies so you can make a judgement based on a reasonable amount of constituent experiences and opinions. Re: Gemmill homes perth 4Jul 22, 2016 4:37 pm I second that. I built with them and as soon as you sign the contract they didnt want to know. Been in the house 1 year now and still haven't had our 6 month maintenance done and doors are not cut to right size and lots more issues. Re: Gemmill homes perth 5Jul 24, 2016 1:26 pm We looked at them too initially and quite of few of people we spoke to shared very bad experiences. HGWA, Summit, Ventura and Dale Alcock in the end we started with and decided to go with Summit (new generation). All of the builders that I compared offered similar sort of services but flexibility to change things (inclusions) in the end sealed the deal. Another word of advice, don't fall for HGWA and their massive inclusions they charge the heck out of you when you want changes made. Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74686 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 105476 Hi there! Putting the feelers out there for those who have (or almost) built with Arli homes!
