Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 11, 2008 4:09 pm Hi Guys,
I thought I get an online advise from all of you on my situation and So you think I should report a complain to the Building commission about the process of my house or not. Here is the blog address, please feel free to read it and I would really appreciate your comments. http://hftshouse.blogspot.com Cheers, Houman Re: Should I complain to Building Commission or not? 2Jul 11, 2008 4:45 pm Is there a Fair trading in Melbourne? Re: Should I complain to Building Commission or not? 3Jul 11, 2008 5:22 pm that is bloody awful, I would most definitely go to BC, Fair Trading and whoever else you can think, that worksmanship is just deplorable.
If it was me I think I'd have it on the market ASAP after handover and start afresh! Re: Should I complain to Building Commission or not? 4Jul 11, 2008 5:22 pm I think there is a unit in Building commission with is called BACV ( Building Advice and Conciliation Victoria) and it is a free of charge service for all the owners as well as the builder when they have a compliant, once they cannot resolve the issue, they will also lodge a complaint to the building commission.
Off course from what I hear so far, all this is free of charge. I have called them already and after telling them story as it is, they said I should act on it and ask to termination of the contract due to negligence. I am thinking off sending the form on Monday with all the evidence. Off course I like the builder to finalise the work, and I have already gave them the message in writing. Thanks Peter, I just heard that BC pulled down the complete $600K house from one of the big builder (S), which had a similar story to ours. What is really ******* me off is that everyday they say, we will fix it and it has been so long passed and no action happening. Re: Should I complain to Building Commission or not? 8Jul 11, 2008 5:57 pm Paula Oh you poor thing, just looked at your blog. Take action it is dreadful isn't it? Makes me shudder - eeeek wonder if we should back out? Really makes me nervous seeing these things, bloody govs sit back and twiddle their thumbs and do nothing. Re: Should I complain to Building Commission or not? 9Jul 11, 2008 6:49 pm Hi mate.
This sucks and is simply not even close to good enough... The reason the concreters will be taking so long to get your issues addressed is because they are working on other jobs for the builder.. In all honesty, I'd be contacting A Current Affair - now... see if they bite (if they get lite-on for content they do love revisiting companies they've had goes at in the past, like H3nl3y...).... Re: Should I complain to Building Commission or not? 10Jul 11, 2008 8:06 pm I,ve just looked at your blog
You poor thing.....it,s just awful to think that so called professionals could be responsible for such CRAP workmanship I think if it were me, I would be contacting someone like A Current Affair....you,ve given them plenty of chances and more than enough time to fix the problems..... I don,t know what else to say....it must be so upsetting for you Mel Building on 9 acres Re: Should I complain to Building Commission or not? 11Jul 11, 2008 8:16 pm I think it is the whole industry to be honest, that idiot Crudd and his merry band of fools are beating the chest over petrol and all the other things in the media but they really need to get off their arses and do something abouyt the new house industry, these cowboys are a disgrace. Re: Should I complain to Building Commission or not? 13Jul 11, 2008 8:19 pm Hi, I feel really upset for you given the state that your house is in. You sound very calm in your writing, both on this forum an in your blog. I think you need to start jumping up and down and making yourself heard to this company. I would not be allowing anyone into the house, contacting who ever who can higher up in H3nl3y and like a few people above even the media. If it's the BC then go to then and lodge something!!!! You cannot possibly expect H3nl3y to fix everything to a "display home standard". I think they have been trying to take you for a ride. Totally unacceptable. If it was me, I'd be having the place pulled down and starting over with a full refund and going elsewhere.

Boy.................... concur, fix it with a D9 (bulldozer) then go get a new builder oh and hit them for pain and suffering and not being able to posses the "quiet enjoyoment of your home" Re: Should I complain to Building Commission or not? 15Jul 11, 2008 9:02 pm OH . MY . GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a mess....I agree with all of the above. Bulldozer option sounds pretty good right about now My question would be this : If they've completely stuffed up the slab - i.e. the foundation of your house, and they can't seem to fix that, how can anything else on top of that be built to an acceptable standard??? Call Tracey and Anna NOW!!!! Heck, evn ring Ray!!! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Should I complain to Building Commission or not? 16Jul 11, 2008 9:23 pm Thanks all for your kind words, I like to stay positive and get things moving.
So I guess with all the nice advices, I know my way now. The complaint letter will go on Monday and will go now to current affair website. As I said above, if they were moving and at least rying to fix the house, I would even calm down, but watching all these problems, my contract time and NO ACTION is what makes me angry. Re: Should I complain to Building Commission or not? 17Jul 11, 2008 9:26 pm I don't want to harp on but I am really wondering how are they going to fix the house? What guarantee are you going to get from them saying that you won't have long term trouble?? Your cornices are cracking already and there is something obviously very wrong with the slab!!
Start making some demands on them. Time to put the good cop away and get the bad cop out! Re: Should I complain to Building Commission or not? 18Jul 11, 2008 9:33 pm I have asked them for an official engineering report saying that cutting the slab to get things right is still with in standard and it does not effect the house. In some points we had about 25 mm diffrence in height in a length of 75cm.
So far no reply with the report, only YES, WE WILL DO IT. When I talked to BACV, they also did say to make sure that we get everything right, since Taylors hill is a very rocky area and the slab in that area is extremly important. A little bit of a chuckle I've decided, after a period of confusion (my building broker told me it's probably not worth it to use a lawyer, but others have said it is a must) that I definitely will… 7 27952 i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 16006 hey there! 😊 so, it’s kinda common for standard drawer depths to be around 500mm since most cabinets use this size to fit the usual runners… 3 20906 |
