Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 01, 2015 10:23 pm Hi everyone , my partner and I are building are first home in Jan next . Our land at Park edge In Cranbourne is said to be titled in Nov this year . We have paid metricon 1000 deposit to build Agar 26 under their freedom range. I thought its too early to start my own treads since we will not have any really building photos to upload. But I can't wait to what everyone to give me ideas ! Any idea is welcome . We have planed the following changes to the structural. - increase entry door height and width - double door to master bed - don't know if we need double vanity in the ensuite but I will be definitely increase the length of the vanity bench from wall to wall. What do you think? -adding door to the ensuite. Thinking of cavity sliding if isn't exp -study is only 2m wide x 3.74 long.We want to put tiles instead of carpet so later we can convert butlers pantry. - widen the kitchen island bench - bedroom 4 , relocate the window to rear back facing garden so it has a bit of view. - convert rumpus sliding door to stacker door. Has it widen almost from wall to wall. - convert window at the family room next to outdoor to a sliding door(sales consultant said not worth to do stakes door because that wall is narrow. - I am thinking of closing the gap between rumpus and the bedroom hallway. That way rumpus is like a superstar room ? my other half insisted to leave it as it is . What would u do? I think that's about all the big changes we plan to make. Is there anything you would like to change if there is your house ? Thanks for the opinion ! Nice plan Sun Ensuite - I'd definitely expand the vanity because you have the space and instead of two mirrors just get them to install mirror length of new vanity. Hubby wanted cavity door to ensuite and it costs us - $568 for two doors. We replaced our double doors to master suite with Cavity doors to give us more space in the room Depending on what door you choose is your price. $350 for cavity doors to room but for the doors we want are $250 each Rumpus room is a good idea too. I'm still looking at your plan but I'll post this first Re: Building our 1st home in Cranbourne VIC 3Sep 03, 2015 9:29 pm Emmz70 sunxiaoxuan23926 Hi everyone , my partner and I are building are first home in Jan next . I'm still looking at your plan but I'll post this first Were you able to reduce your rumpus to extend outdoor to fit in a Stacker door? Re: Building our 1st home in Cranbourne VIC 5Sep 03, 2015 10:10 pm Gee Emma , you are great ! Better than our Metricon sales consultant. Lol. Your idea is taken on the ensuite vanity!! For the master ensuite, I think the doorway is only enough for one pc of cavity slighting door?? So price will be $280? For rumpus , we didn't explore option of making outdoor bigger to add stacker door. I did ask if we can remove the post at the cover so make it become two stacker doors. SC told me that will cost me 10k . Still looking at the pros and cons for closing the rumpus gap .... Need to talk to Metricon SC about these changes tomorrow . Hope it's not too late. viewtopic.php?t=79646 Re: Building our 1st home in Cranbourne VIC 6Sep 03, 2015 10:19 pm Emmz70 Nice plan though viewed video on Metricon site We want to do a light grey themed house (hopefully not ending up with 50 shades! lol) This is the tile used at display and we are going to copy it if we don't find anything better. But for you's would be good because it won't be that expensive being single storey. I like your facade you've selected because you would get that nice big window in your room. Is your facade half render like in the pic? Your last pic looks like Boral Mist Brick. Charcoal roof Very very nice colours. Ask about rumpus don't think will cost that much reducing size, because no post by rumpus but yes will be 10k to remove post because it changes the structure of home. Depending on how your house sits on land you could even add 1 metre into any rooms you feel are too small but for each metre added cost is $1000. Good idea extending island. Do you get a lot of light filtering in family room? Or do you prefer that Re: Building our 1st home in Cranbourne VIC 8Sep 03, 2015 10:50 pm sunxiaoxuan23926 Gee Emma , you are great ! So definitely will be cheaper I'd say 200 plus like what you say. So worth asking about for sure. Building our 1st home in Cranbourne VIC 9Sep 03, 2015 10:59 pm For rumpus it's purely up to your likes. If you like entertaining a lot and still like a bit of privacy id definitely put door up by bedroom entry. But if you manage to get both stacker doors I'd leave other side open to give you that sense of openness. Would be even more perfect if it was corner less stackers then it will really open that area out. Oh and remember any bulkheads you replace with doors always ends up standard door height Re: Building our 1st home in Cranbourne VIC 11Sep 25, 2015 6:06 pm Just some our selections. As we are building under budget , didn't do much upgrade . The first photo is bench top and cabinetry colour, bottom ones are white and top ones are very dark walnut timerish colour. . Second phot is brick , roof, gutter . The light grey is render colour, darker grey is door colour . It's actually darker when u see in person. Last photo is bathroom bench top colours . Bench is diamond gloss finish white . And black cabinetry. Last one is just cat 1 carpet to Marche with grey tile we are going to choose . Ours is next Monday We received our pricing back from colours. We were on par with our budget for colour appointment so we were happy. Just electrical and tiles left Good luck with your appointments Re: Building our 1st home in Cranbourne VIC 13Dec 17, 2015 11:50 pm Hi, My partner and I are building Agar 28BP. We have made a few upgrades and were interested to see you mentioned the cavity for the ensuite. We were also thinking about doing this. Do you mind me asking what it cost for that change? With the current cost of building… 0 4297 I have posted this before: We hired Darbecca to do every stage inspection, and I strongly recommend them to anyone that asks me. They were amazing.
