Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 23, 2015 10:57 am We are looking to do a knock down , subdivide and build two homes. We are at the stage of choosing a building company. We have narrowed it to two, Format or Rossdale homes. Both seem to have their advantages, reviews on Rossdale are pretty mixed. Reviews on Format homes seem pretty consistent. We like what we see in Rossdale homes and Format homes. We've lost a 1/3 of our current house to termites so steel is appealing but termite proofing will be essential regardless. I'd love to hear your opinion/ experience with these two companies or alternative recommendations. Re: Rossdale or Format? 2Aug 23, 2015 11:53 pm Built with Format 5 years ago, great house and quality. Now building with ADH steel frame also, also having an okay time of it. Both have in our experience have been pretty similar in the admin phase need a little pushing to move things along. But our building consultant at ADH is amazing and has been really great to work with and we stayed with ADH. Re: Rossdale or Format? 3Aug 29, 2015 9:52 am It can be hit and miss I reckon. I know two peeps who built with one of those builders and they are friends. One couple told me they were great. The other said terrible and that their friend had problems too. Sometimes people don't like people to know they are unhappy but will complain privately. Then you get others that complain about every insignificant detail. Your own experience will hinge on the people assigned to your job, how you relate to them and how inspired/dedicated they are. If they get to know you and like you, they are more invested in helping you. Building a house is a big project with lots of people and parts to organise. Good communication and processes are most important. Steel frames are great. Don't know why we ended up going timber. Steel was mandatory for us when we started the process five years ago |
