Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 83Dec 23, 2015 8:27 pm We got a letter today from Metricon saying we're now officially in the construction phase. I guess work won't actually start until after the holidays so late Jan early Feb. Frustrating as our block is calling out to be built on! Something that stood out however was they said someone from Metricon's Tile Studio will be calling to arrange our tile selection. Maybe this is just the term they use but we were told all our tiles were to be selected at DiLorenzo directly and Metricon have previously kept tiling at arms length. We'd be mightily peed off if we couldn't now pick from DiLorenzo's range as we've spent literally hundreds of man hours finding the right tiles. Can anyone shed any light before we go into full panic mode?! We are in the same boat too and spent hundreds of hours at DL and could only find 2 tiles which were suitable. Now we have to go through M Tile studio. Have a look at my thread for some tile brochures. @ Orph build thread: viewtopic.php?t=78328 Dream Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney)! Orpheus Building the Metricon Glendale 38|Sydney Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 87Dec 23, 2015 9:07 pm We also been to DL multiple times and also now need to go through Metricon Tiles. Agree do it after Xmas and do a visit to their studio it upstairs from Studio M Nev _________________ Blog | ( will start once received tender ) H1 thread | https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77665 Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 88Dec 23, 2015 9:13 pm I just think it's so unprofessional. We asked over and over again about tiling and each time they said to go to DiLorenzo and they will take care of everything. So with our interior designer that's what we did, multiple visits choosing not just the tiles but the colour scheme for the home too- each room, bathroom etc. Never any mention of terminating the DL contract. Now, once everything is finalised we're indirectly told we can bin all that thought and planning and instead go for some second rate in house tile studio?! Not happy. We have high standards when it comes to bathrooms, our previous home had 3 immaculate Villeroy & Boch and Hansgrohe bathrooms, top European spec. I just can't see this M Tile Studio providing the quality products we're looking for. Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 89Dec 23, 2015 9:30 pm That's disappointing Vista. We weren't overly impressed with the tile selections at Studio M. I hope you sort something out. Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 90Dec 24, 2015 5:32 am So it looks like this will be our first conflict with Metricon. The tile selections on offer seem to be very limited compared to DL, so much so that we couldn't switch now. Thanks Orpheus for the pictures and links; viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78328&start=780 All that work done with the interior designer, wasted. When they open next year they better have a plan, like being able to source the DL tiles themselves from somewhere. We won't be fobbed off with cheapo Chinese and Australian tiles, no doubt maximising their margins. Why would no one mention this until now? It must have taken them months to establish the tile selection business, why not let customers know in advance?! Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 91Dec 24, 2015 5:36 am Vista Dream, I can so imagine your frustration!! We also spent countless hours at DL when we did our tile selection. I would have been p**sed if this had happen to us. I am not sure how M can do this! It's crazy they should start the process of using Tile studio for clients who are just signing up and keep to DL for those in the process. I know in Melbourne/QLD you can use Tile studio or pay an additional fee to use Beaumont tiles. See if you can do this. Good luck! viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 92Dec 24, 2015 5:51 am The more I think about this Franky, the madder I get (can you tell!) All our internal selections, wall colours, bench tops, kitchen and bathroom units were based on specific tile choices (colour, size, as well as texture) from the DL range. Of course none of those selections can now be changed as we're in the construction stage. How can they expect us to just switch to Tile Studio, it just isn't going to happen!? I'm hoping they do as you say, give people in the process the free option to stick with DL and tell people just starting out that it's Tile Studio only. Seems like the only fair way to do it. I can understand their reasons for dropping DL if they weren't fulfilling their contracts in a timely way but you can't just switch overnight with no notice to your customers beforehand. And breathe....... Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 93Dec 24, 2015 6:15 am Oh yeah i asked M in Nov about it after Franky notice the tile studio place and my CSC didn't confirm it. I had to pester them and only a few weeks back they acknowledged it exists. With yr DL selections are they locked in with DL or not yet? @ Orph build thread: viewtopic.php?t=78328 Dream Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney)! Orpheus Building the Metricon Glendale 38|Sydney Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 94Dec 24, 2015 6:33 am No not locked in yet Orpheus, we went to Studio M and DL several times with our designer to finalise the whole look ahead of schedule. We weren't due to officially sign up with DL until slab/frame stage which is probably Feb now due to the Christmas shutdown. But no one mentioned we'd be wasting our time at DL! Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 95Dec 24, 2015 6:34 am I can so appreciate how you are feeling. You've invested a whole lot of time on pulling together all the finishes for your house based on DL tiles, changing it now would be unimaginable. We chose lovely Italian tiles from DL and if I was told I need to change at the last minute I would be really really "annoyed" putting it politely ! Hopefully M will see sense and make some arrangement for those in the process. It's not reasonable for them to do this. They must give ppl a choice, all their display homes in Sydney have DL tiles and not your standard range, so when you are building and want similar finishes they can't say sorry we now offer this limited range of tiles. I remember reading somewhere the some of the Tile studio tiles are from Italy. viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 96Dec 24, 2015 6:40 am Changing the subject slightly, anyone know the "standard" size for a mains water pipe at the property boundary? We have a 15mm copper pipe which has been damaged by contractors, so is leaking and needs replacement. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ So I was wondering whether it would be an idea to replace it now with PVC (no contamination) and make it wider from the mains supply to the property. I'm going to have to attach a garden hose or something to it over the holidays because of course no one will come out now to fix it until January! Vista go to Bunnings and get an end cap, easiest way is cut a bit off and take it to match it up. I jut ripped out my kitchen and forgot that I still needed water for the backyard. So I picked two up from Bunnings they were about $9 each. I will try a find a picture of one but they are easy to use. Really good customer service, saves us a whole lot of trouble as all our Studio M colours (stone benchtops, kitchen unit colours, wall colours) were to compliment our DiLorenzo tile selections.
