We are going through a rough patch with our build atm. Hopefully we will get through it viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 42Oct 23, 2015 7:18 am Yes just read about your troubles, sorry it's been slow. Our CSC is called MV, pretty good so far. Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 43Nov 17, 2015 3:16 am Demo done, now need to excavate the boundary. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Pool is within 3m of house, so M tell me I have to wait for piering to be done before we can excavate the pool. Anyone had this? I can't see this happening before the Christmas shutdown, not happy Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 44Nov 17, 2015 6:09 am Hi Vista dream, Yay demo done!! Exciting first step . We had to do this as our pool is only 1.2m away from the house. Please make sure M actually stop with piering, for us they went a bit too far and did all the underground drainage (so bad bits of pipe sticking out all over) which made the whole pool installation more difficult and expensive! I hope you've allowed for spoil removal as M will not have the site with stockpile of soil anywhere. You also must be getting a hardcover and temp pool fence like us? Though I love having a pool the process of getting installed in between the build was a bit of a pain. Another tip is your pool company will usually expect you to provide electricity and water, water is easy but you may need to ask the nice neighbour to use their electricity. I had made a post about our experience with pool installing on my thread, feel free read and ask any questions you may have. Good luck viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 45Nov 17, 2015 6:56 am Thanks Franky, useful to know about the pipes. Excavator is also concerned about the steel formwork sticking out of the ground from the piers. He doesn't want to damage them. Out of interest do you have a picture from when the piers were put in and can you let me know how much extra you paid for the piers? All unbudgeted for of course, our sales rep told us pool installation would be seamless! Hmmm...... Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 46Nov 17, 2015 7:00 am Ps we do have a cover and fencing for the pool shell included and soil removal (rock actually, as we have rock from 50cm down!) Our neighbours are great so will definitely ask for their help with electricity. Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 47Nov 17, 2015 7:07 am Vista & Franky, when you mention your pool in your backyard, I always picture the following pool design for your houses? M should only do cut and fill and the piering and hand the site to you for pool installation. If you look at the pic above you can see pool excavation happening and you can see we have pipe sticking up and have timer boards for the slab as well. We tried to work around it and all got too hard, anyway M did tell us not to worry about damaging them as they will redo it if need be (they should not have gone that far in the first place). The additional piering for the pool cost $1.5k. I hope for your sake the pool installation goes seamless but our experience had some curly ones!! viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 52Nov 17, 2015 1:38 pm Hey everyone, I thought M doesn't allow any other tradies to be onsite once they commence the build? You are in charge of the site when the pool is being installed. Once the installation is done you need to give written notice to M, who inspect the site and take it back. viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 54Nov 17, 2015 2:30 pm Franky40 Orpheus Hey everyone, I thought M doesn't allow any other tradies to be onsite once they commence the build? Maybe it's only something you sign if you are planning to install a pool. viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 56Nov 17, 2015 3:56 pm Oh yeah i remembered there is a big section in the contract on pool installation and regulations. @ Orph build thread: viewtopic.php?t=78328 Dream Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney)! Orpheus Building the Metricon Glendale 38|Sydney Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 57Nov 17, 2015 5:43 pm I think M work better with some pool installers than others. Our SC gave us a good lead on a company that works efficiently and doesn't leave the site for weeks without any progress. The whole handing site back to you and then you back to them could take months if the pool installer is too busy to do the work. Time is money! Also you must have a cover and fencing in your pool contract, so once the pool is dug its secure and not a danger to M's contractors whilst they're back on site building the house. That's about $3000 from memory. Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 58Nov 17, 2015 5:51 pm We were very unfortunate and got caught to a whole month of rain in April (the Sydney storms!!). If not it should have only taken 2 weeks max! The weather forecast is looking good for the next few weeks, hopefully you can get the pool installed before Xmas viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 59Nov 21, 2015 8:17 pm Thats the plan Franky! A quick update. We now have CDC approval, took from 21 Oct to 18 Nov, sticking point being we were moving our driveway so needed Manly Council permission. Still may need a section 94, whatever that is! Anyway all now in, except of course the Christmas shutdown means nothing will be done onsite by M until mid/late January. We also need piering as the pool was within 3m of the new home and initially M said we couldn't excavate the pool (which is outside contract as we're building on rock so need rock saws to cut the rock) until piering was in. Then they said we'd have the usual hand site back, do the work, hand back to them, which would have delayed a month or so. We pushed against this through the excellent SC and as we're excavating rock and the pool is 2.9m from the home they've allowed it. Really can't see how their piering would be affected by us excavating first, it's solid rock! So hopefully spend the rest of this year getting the pool dug, cover on and fence around and then M can have the site for the new year uninterrupted. Pool company are great too, spending a little extra really is worth it, we've got a limited number of heartbeats! And relax.......! Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 60Nov 21, 2015 8:20 pm Ps I hear M have 200+ builds waiting to start in the Sydney metro area, and with a severe shortage of trades, this is going to be strictly first come, first served!
