Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 14, 2015 10:35 am Have searched the forums but can't seem to find much on this. I'd be interested to know who did their landscape plans at the same time as the build plans, and whether it worked for you or not. Reason I ask is our block is sloping (down towards the street) and for landscaping purposes we may need both retaining walls but also drainage bigger than the building envelope. We're not going to have access for a bobcat to the backyard once the house is done (very early custom design stage, we've had an initial design meeting but that's it) and will have to get any earthworks done at the same time as construction. Did you do landscape earthworks at the same time as build? Is your draining in your backyard ok? All advice appreciated. Re: Building plans & landscape plans at the same time? 3Aug 16, 2015 8:11 pm Hi, Our block is at the bottom of the hill so we had to get a lot of retaining walls. Our contract included cutting the land and retaining walls at the back. Same as you, we won't be able to get the bobcat out the back once the house is built. We had some problem from rain water coming down from the hill to our block so we had to redirect it by putting some drain pipes to the storm water drain. Though we left the front yard until the house is completed. The retaining wall and landscaping (front and back) cost us $40k. So getting it included in your contract is a good idea so you can include it in your mortgage instead of coming out of your pocket. It will be less hassle in the end as well. Cheers, Bonnie Re: Building plans & landscape plans at the same time? 4Aug 17, 2015 5:59 pm Thanks Bonnie - really appreciate your response. Looks like the sensible thing to do. I think we'll get a full landscape plan done at the same time as the house design, do all the retaining & drainage as part of the build and then work on the paving & planting after we've moved in. Re: Building plans & landscape plans at the same time? 5Aug 20, 2015 9:27 pm Yeah, thats a good idea to get the plan and maybe ask them for the estimated cost of doing it now vs doing it after the house is built. That might give you some reassurance. Landscape Design Parramatta We have been doing a large amount of landscape design work in Sydney… 0 3 Need advice on the backyard plan above. Should I excavate and cut all of the dirt to level with the house slab or semi-excavate as per photo above? Both left and right… 0 24831 Thanks very much! And would the landscaper/contractor generally involve the engineer or is that something the client would do? Thanks for your help 2 10006 |
