Building with CVH - Waiting for handover

i've modified the plan to remove the 4th bedroom and move the laundry next to the pantry where the garage door will be open to..

still waiting for the builder on the updated plan or whether its possible or not..

Frames is taking longer than expected.. and it's still ongoing..

And i found a mistake on the plan too late ! Now they cant change it even its only on the framing stage...
Since i've opt for the gold package which includes ceiling height increased to 2740, all the doors height should be increased to 2340 as well, and it only reflected on the front door and not the remaining doors.. not really happy with it, coz i paid for the upgrade, but they are 'saying its my fault' coz i didnt check the plans...how ??

Congrats! Finally some action. Very happy for you.
If I were you, I would push for them to change it back. You're still at framing stage so they can definitely fix it- it's only timber! They're only trying to get away with it.

Thanks... it's actually my fault, coz i didnt triple check the final drawing, he mentioned they have to build according to the plan, which i agreed. The reason he said no coz they've ordered the jams, doors and everything, so it wont be an easy change, but i insisted that i wanted to change even if there are costs involved. Still waiting for the costs .. hopefully its reasonable.. coz its a small house only..

Btw, how's your new house ?? and im sure you've gone thru the 3 months maintenance as well ...

Nice plan Annie. Which estate are you in? My land in Katandra rise has just settled. Hoping on an April site start just waiting on DA and building permits.

Congrats on your settlement, i waited for about 2+ months to get the building permits, coz it's a small corner block, there are some exceptions my builder trying to get it over the line without much changes to the plan..and, its Hazelcroft estate..

I have a friend who lives in Hazelcroft and he is really happy there. It's going to look great once all of the parks, paths and waterways are done.

Agreed, the waiting game is not a great feeling, imagine i've waited for almost 3 years till i see some progress.. Who are you building with ?? Do you have a thread as well ? One of the reason i chose the corner lot coz it's facing the waterways ...

Some good news, got a call that they can change the door height for most of the doors except the sliding door coz if the supplier say no, then i have to bear the cost and it will be under a thousand..

Pic from the inspection report doc, and it's 36 pages of defects.. not sure thats normal or not, but i'm glad i went for the building inspection

It's good they let you change the door heights I increased mine to 2340 as well, I think it makes a big difference in the look/feel of the house.

I think long defects reports are standard. Hopefully most are small issues that will be quick/easy fixes. I wouldn't worry too much if the builder is willing to acknowledge and rectify the problems. If there are any drainage issues identified make sure they are fixed correctly and ask for photo evidence. Bad drainage can cause slab heave and be very costly/hard to fix post build.

Not very good update, since the previous door height thingy.. im really not happy, the site supervisor which is also the owner, told me he can change all the door height, but pending the sliding door and there might be costs involved, which i told him im willing to pay, and i didnt get any calls after that, coz he's supposed to let me know the cost if there is, and since there's no call, i tot no costs at all.. and on friday, the admin - which i dont like dealing with her, asked me any issue or concern with the build, i told her to confirm the door height is increased as per what the site supervisor/owner mentioned, and she told me she will let me know, and she did but not via phonecall instead email, can you believe that ? i called the site supervisor/owner right away, and as usual he didnt pick up my call, and im really very frustrated..then he send an email to me saying he's away and gave me the explanation that the costs involved for the sliding door is $3-$4k, which im still willing to pay ! he didnt even ask me that ! i really wanted to ask for a site supervisor change, but he's the owner, i've no idea will that help my build or not..

Sorry to hear. Just ask them to fix or don't pay. Stand your ground, you have all the right to do so. Don't worry about a slight delay.

I really hope you manage to sort things out the door heights make a big difference to the look of the house. You would think being a smaller builder there would be more flexibility. Be careful what you say on here it might be worth waiting to leave feedback until after handover, most builders keep an eye on H1.

Hi annielee, I hear you loud and clear. SS wasn't flexible with anything and threatened me delays if I asked any fixings, towards the end he didn't give much of a chance for me to find issues and tried avoiding inspection as much as he could. They did just enough to fix the issues. But in the end the finished product was good and our friends notice it to tell us.

I've referred few friends to them (obviously told them about delays), but cvh isn't responding well.

Yes we are enjoying the house and there is plenty to do with my outdoor and that is keeping me very busy.

All the pain will go away once you get into the house, just hang in there. Push them real hard to fix up things and ensure you double and triple check everything (e.g one of my window was off center).
