Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 07, 2008 10:32 pm I've seen people talking about the Inspector called Kev on here...
I'm thinking of using a company called Contract Check... I spoke with them at the Home Show last year, and their premium service seems well priced at 1% of the build http://www.contractcheck.net.au/ Has anyone here got any experience with them? Building Inspection 2Jul 08, 2008 10:25 am Kev the building inspection guy is absolutely fantastic and I have noticed several people on this fourm are using him as are we. He is like a bulldog (not too look at) He doesn't let these builders get away with anything.
I don't know if you have his website details they are www.newhomeinspections.com.au You won't regret getting him out to do the inspections. We have had a LOT of trouble with PD and he has been and continues to be right on the ball. Building with Porter Davis since October 2007 - what a nightmare!!! Re: Building Inspection 3Jul 08, 2008 10:39 am I had heard good things about PD... but they cost more and quite a few people seem to have trouble with them.
I guess the more aware we all become with the 'tricks of the trade' there more we can be prepared to avoid them, or deal with them at the time. Forums like this are great for that. Checks such as wet areas (prior to tiling), plastering and painting are not covered by a normal building inspector.
My sister recently built a home with a victorian volume builder, and I was really suprised to hear that the inspector didn't even check the slab reinforcement before it was poured!!!
