Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 02, 2015 9:03 am Hi All, Would anyone please be able to advise me, whether I need to let the land "settle" (For a month or so?) after demolition of old property (On stumps)? The new house I am building is going to be on concrete slab - Waffle pod (May be with Bored piers). I would really appreciate your input. Thank you in advance. Re: Do I need to wait for land to "settle" after demolition? 2Aug 02, 2015 9:59 am It depends on what type of soil you are building on. If you are building on clay the soil under the house will be drier than elsewhere. With a different floor plan the parts of the house which are over the previously wetter soil may drop compared with those parts on the drier area. Some people prefer to wait until the moisture levels stabilize and some look to pre wet (see http://www.anewhouse.com.au/2014/10/pre ... your-site/) The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get !
