Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 27, 2015 8:12 am Having read many posts on Homeone we have decided to document our journey with Watersun Homes. We visited many, many home displays to find a plan that suited our family, that at the time consisted of 5 - myself, my partner and 3 teenage children. We settled on a new design by Watersun the Yarra 3600, we have customised the plan a little - pictures to come. We then started the tender process, and it has been a long, long process. At one point after reading some online reviews and through our own frustrations with the lack of attention to detail we decided not to build with Watersun. We met with the construction manager and discussed our concerns and are back on board and looking forward to a great outcome!! Re: Watersun Yarra 3600 - Customised plan 2Jul 27, 2015 9:28 am This is the original design - http://s51.photobucket.com/user/byoung1 ... sort=3&o=0 This is the alterations we made to the plan - http://s51.photobucket.com/user/byoung1 ... sort=3&o=0 We removed the hallway behind the kitchen and made bedroom 2 larger, this also created a spot for a hidden second fridge, or freezer near the laundry. We swapped the rumpus room with bedroom 3 and made the cupboard in bedroom 4 a WIR. We have made it a triple car garage instead of a double. We did the colour selection last week, and there has been a couple of minor things we needed to get fixed, we also changed our mind on a couple of things within the 2 day "cooling off" period. Here is the outside. Bricks - Brushwood, Deep rolled Roof Tile - Marsh Profile, Coal Dust Garage Doors - Monument Windows - Paperbark Guttering - Monument Fascia - Paperbark Front Door - Paperbark Down pipes - Paperbark Rendered Posts - Paperbark Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Watersun Yarra 3600 - Customised plan 11Aug 04, 2015 1:59 pm So we did the colour selection and then changed our minds on some of the external colours, we had this changed. On the final check of the colours I noted the number of large handles for the pot drawers was incorrect. We had this fixed, and then on checking through the rest of the details again noted that they had removed the tiles we had listed for our feature wall in the ensuite! Incredibly frustrated at the lack of attention to details. This has been a common theme from the drafts people to the colour consultant. So we are still waiting for the fixed colour selection paperwork before we go to contract. I am not sure how long it takes to go from colours to contract? Does anyone have an idea of how long it might take? (i didn't upgrade any tiles etc) Re: Watersun Yarra 3600 - Customised plan 15Aug 05, 2015 7:33 am H220 Aba121012 Does anyone have an idea of how long it might take? i wish i could help you there, looking back i signed my contracts then i got a color appt. anything i changed during this i get sent as a variation. (i didn't upgrade any tiles etc) Watersun have just advised that it should be between two and three weeks. We are hoping the build will start late September or October, that may be wishful thinking Re: Watersun Yarra 3600 - Customised plan 16Sep 15, 2015 6:58 am Latest update is we finally picked the contract up on Wednesday last week, we didn't sign on the spot as we wanted to check over it given the issues we have had. Lucky we did!! They had put the wrong plans in the contract, we had the plans fixed, signed them and returned them to Watersun and they put the old ones in.... Every step of the way we have had to check and re-check, yet again we find ourselves questioning the decision. But we always come back to the same conclusion - this is an issue we could have with any volume builder we go with. At the moment we are awaiting a response from Watersun. Re: Watersun Yarra 3600 - Customised plan 17Sep 15, 2015 11:41 am Hi Aba121012, We are also building with Watersun and also have the same concerns about the bad reviews, things missing / changes not being put through. We had our colours about 2 weeks ago and they forgot to put in a change to the front door (we went for an extra large one) and different door handles. Apart from that we have been happy with them - they were the only builder who was quite happy to alter our design to remove a study / add extra garage space. I'm looking forward to watching your build progress - hope you dont have too many more dramas! Where abouts are you building? Very good idea to keep checking and yes re-check! From what iv read, post contact variations can be a nightmare for any builder!
