Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 24, 2015 7:13 pm Hello All, Long time reader, first time poster I've enjoyed following the progress of many people here on the forum and now I'm finally going to build myself. My husband and I were originally thinking of going with Henley, but after finding they were non-negotiable on making the structural changes that we wanted, we continued shopping around. Eventually, we saw the Granvue display at Melton and fell in love with the Ruby display - that kitchen! So the Ruby is what we will be building, although we have quite a few modifications to the front of the house as the design was a little too long for our block. Since our block is short and wide, we're taking advantage of that by moving the garage out to one side, the ensuite out to the other and moving everything else toward the front of the block. This created a hallway in between the rumpus and bedroom 2 to get to the garage and we've pushed this wall out even more so that now we will have a mudroom. We plan on this being our one and only build, so want to get everything right. We signed our quote and our colour and tender appointment is set for 2 weeks from today. It's freaking me out a bit, especially since I don't have a full list of suppliers from Granvue to do proper research for colours My motto is 'be prepared' so not knowing what type of options will be in each category is very frustrating. Granvue aren't like Henley, so there's no Cosham to go to and view all the options beforehand. We asked the sales guy and he keeps saying the girls in colours can walk us through it. But aren't you supposed to pick your colours at that appointment? Argh, so confused! Has anyone built with Granvue recently? Or currently building with them? The only posts I could find doing searches on the forum were a year or so old. I'd be happy to get some tips for what to look out for. ----------------------------------- Building with Granvue Victoria Visit our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81992 Re: Building with Granvue (Vic)? 2Jul 25, 2015 7:30 am It seems that Granvue really are small I forgot to mention we will be building in an established area (knock down) in Werribee. ----------------------------------- Building with Granvue Victoria Visit our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81992 Re: Building with Granvue (Vic)? 4Sep 25, 2015 9:34 am What makes you say that, Johnno? ----------------------------------- Building with Granvue Victoria Visit our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81992 Re: Building with Granvue (Vic)? 6Feb 09, 2016 11:58 am Marie Hi, Just wondering if you went ahead with Granvue and your thoughts and recommendation about the builder. Thanks Hi Marie, We did and have been happy so far. We're building right now and are up to brick stage. So far everything is moving quickly. We had a few issues in contract/tender stage. So my advice would be take your time, make sure everything is correct on plans and documents they send you, and don't be pressured into signing anything until you're sure that everything is right. We signed on the day of our contracts as they said we couldn't take the drawings otherwise. I wish we didn't as we then found problems that needed post-contract variations and have caused some headaches. Good luck and PM me if you want anymore info. Happy to chat ----------------------------------- Building with Granvue Victoria Visit our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81992 I have posted this before: We hired Darbecca to do every stage inspection, and I strongly recommend them to anyone that asks me. They were amazing. Thorough reports… 2 4480 Thanks for your reply. I will just wait and see I guess. Trying to get some more information from our builder. 9 30233 |
