We are building on the beach in Secret Harbour & have just started the process, your thread has certainly made me aware not to get my hopes up on a fast tracked process. Best of luck with the rest of your journey, your home looks gorgeous, I adore your colour selections, especially your tiles Stilettos & Bricks -our Building Journey Blog https://stilettosbricks.com viewtopic.php?f=31&t=85183&hilit=secret+harbour Re: HGWA build Burns Beach- 8 months still no slab 402Sep 13, 2016 11:55 am Has anyone had drywall? Is it meant to be really echoey/hollow sounding when you knock on the wall? They did our main dining wall in drywall and when you knock on the wall it sounds hollow if that makes sense? Is this normal? Mon Re: HGWA build Burns Beach- 8 months still no slab 403Sep 13, 2016 1:52 pm Mon445 Has anyone had drywall? View thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=83776&start=80 The drywall is on the dining room side (the 3rd bedroom shares this wall and that has been plastered) then we have the alfresco right off the drywall and a sliding door on the alfresco? Hope that makes sense? They've also drywalled our recess in the kitchen (which will have our wine fridge in it, and that's echoing when you knock on it too? Not a good day today- tiling meeting tomorrow and someone has bricked up all the bathroom hobs! We are supposed to have floating cabinetry and all the plans have it drawn. Someone didn't read the plans and bricked them all up! We are worried about how this will affect waterproofing now- they've already waterproofed everything?! Does anyone know if they will have to re do the waterproofing once they pull out that brickwork? So stressful!!! Mon Re: HGWA build Burns Beach- 8 months still no slab 409Sep 13, 2016 9:59 pm Just leave it up to the builders it will sll be sorted. Drylining is there because you have timber bulkheads running flush with the brickwork, if you render and plaster those walls you will more than likely have a crack appearing once the home settles because you'll have gyprock meeting the plaster and a joint covered by tape , this way its all uniform and when movement occurs you will have no cracking! Its actually a proper way of doing this most builder's do not do this. Re: HGWA build Burns Beach- 8 months still no slab 411Sep 14, 2016 8:21 pm Tile meeting went well! Tiler will start on Monday as they have to take out the hobs which they accidentally bricked in. Should take about 2 weeks for tiler then handover in approx 6-8 weeks! The kitchen looks amazing and the cabinetry is so good! Can't wait to see all the tiling finished! How is your place going? Has the tiler finished? It's all coming together, next big milestone will be when the tiler finishes. The whole house is almost all rendered too. Had to get a credit for the grano in the alfresco as home group weren't too sure of the measurements and lining it up with our recessed tracks. So will have to do that after handover. Can't believe we will spend Xmas in our new house! Mon Re: HGWA build Burns Beach- 8 months still no slab 413Sep 14, 2016 8:39 pm Looking good Mon! Looks like a real house with cabinetry and bench tops in doesn't it. We've had sparkies in and non-pretty things today so necessary stuff but boring lol Re: HGWA build Burns Beach- 8 months still no slab 414Sep 14, 2016 8:44 pm I love your kitchen cabinetry, similar to what I have in mind for our build. I love how flush and glossy they look. It's shame on the alfresco issue. Just checked mine, noticed the same. We spend $450k plus on the house and couple of grands wound not have any issue. I blame the sales guy and Prestart girl. They should highlight those to us. Canot they fix it now? Need try with them. Canot they fix it now? Need try with them. Hi sandy Unfortunately home group won't fix it- they even had the balls to say it was a structural issue! Ummmmm mounting a bulkhead is not structural! Lucky it's something we will be able to fix after handover. We are just going to mount a bulkhead onto the eaves so it will look like a normal room. Home group really need to build a display home with all of their "standard inclusions" so everyone is aware of all the faults/flaws and then there wouldn't be an issue- our sales guy and pre start girls didn't even go through the alfresco with us and point this out which was so frustrating. The tiler is half way through which is so exciting! Not much left to do! Renderers are also finished! Can't believe the end is in sight! Mon Re: HGWA build Burns Beach- 8 months still no slab 417Sep 21, 2016 2:52 pm Yes Mon, I suggest, rather we raise the ceiling inside the alfresco taking down the guprock ceiling inside. Coz, otherwise eaves won't align with other areas and also it will be lower. I know they won't allow such changes. We were told they would take 2 weeks but they've finished in 1! Just need to grout and it'll all be done! Mon Re: HGWA build Burns Beach- 8 months still no slab 420Sep 25, 2016 8:18 pm Looks amazing Mon, great colour selections. Can I ask what size tiles you used on the floors ? And roughly how much extra the buider charged you for the upgrade?
