I'm so shocked they won't even come to the party to find a resolution !!!!!! Surely there is something they can do! Big hugs X They can easily help us by getting the carpenters to build a bulkhead for us in the 2 corners- but nope- they are saying its a massive structural change! I just don't know who or why changed our alfresco when it was meant to be standard!! So angry. Mon Re: HGWA build Burns Beach- 8 months still no slab 363Jul 20, 2016 9:11 pm Mon so what if it's a structural change - they better get onto the council then! This is their fault not yours - you've paid for it and they need to deliver..if that eats into their profits then that is their problem!! Feel for you mate Re: HGWA build Burns Beach- 8 months still no slab 364Jul 20, 2016 9:56 pm That's awful Mon! Hopefully they will fix it for you Do you have a pic at all? All they have to do is get the carpenter to install a bulkhead to two sides of the alfresco and fix it to the ceiling. We just need some timber and plaster to be mounted on the current alfresco to make it look like every other room in the house! Have sent an email basically telling them they need to fix it and how..fingers crossed! Mon HGWA build Burns Beach- 8 months still no slab 366Jul 20, 2016 11:37 pm I thought that alfresco looked familiar lol. That's terrible Mon, I really feel for you. What did it say on your addenda? Just for reference we paid extra for both a recessed ceiling (roughly 1k) and lintels (around 2k) Re: HGWA build Burns Beach- 8 months still no slab 367Jul 21, 2016 12:00 am We paid extra for the recessed ceiling, but still have the gyprock on the edges, which I think is a good compromise Re: HGWA build Burns Beach- 8 months still no slab 368Jul 21, 2016 12:34 am We didn't want a recessed ceiling as such- just a full gyprock ceiling with 4 sides of cornice. So it basically looks the same as any other room in the house. The addenda states gyprock with cement sheets to the eaves and timber trim- I stupidly thought the timber trim was the piece of painted wood underneath the brickwork to finish it off nicely.. Then on the plans it's drawn in a manner that only engineers would interpret- so it's partly our fault- but I showed our sales guy a picture and the pre start girl! Nobody said anything!! All up we have been charged $1000 for the crappy alfresco! I just hope they can fix it by adding a bulkhead to two sides so it'll look like a normal room with a normal ceiling and cornice. It just looks so terrible and considering the amount we've spent on the build- how they assumed we would like the ceiling how it is, is so frautrating Mon Re: HGWA build Burns Beach- 8 months still no slab 369Jul 21, 2016 12:35 am kellie_87 I thought that alfresco looked familiar lol. Have sent an email basically telling them they need to fix it and how..fingers crossed! Mon This is exactly what we have and hubby is furious about it. I showed my dad and he recons they shouldnt be allowed to do it cause the roof sheeting isnt made for outside at all and it will soak up all the moisture and the way it connects to the gyprock looks bloody ugly too. What was the point of paying so much more for a nice ceiling? We didnt want a recessed one either but if i had know this is what it was gonna be i would not have agreed neither would hubby Re: HGWA build Burns Beach- 8 months still no slab 373Jul 21, 2016 4:22 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I couldn't find the best photo but this is what mine looks like. If we hadn't of paid extra for the recessed ceiling ours would have looked like yours. We didn't want the plasterboard on the eves but were told we had no choice. I think if I had the money I would do it like Kellie's! Oh well, next build. I hope they come up with a solution you're happy with Re: HGWA build Burns Beach- 8 months still no slab 374Jul 21, 2016 10:17 pm I'd take your alfresco any day Mrs Macca pacca! Once they paint your eaves it will look really good! Sent home group a big email and cc"ed the exec manager into it- still haven't heard back. Hoping for some good news tomorrow. Re: HGWA build Burns Beach- 8 months still no slab 378Jul 27, 2016 7:44 pm kellie_87 Hey Mon how did you go with it all? Not too sure Kellie- our CLO said she's forwarded our letter to the construction manager and that they will look into it. Haven't heard back from them yet. On a positive note- all the grey float is finished and the whole outside has been rendered! So we're plugging along! Hopefully white set and ceilings start next week! Mon Re: HGWA build Burns Beach- 8 months still no slab 379Jul 27, 2016 9:21 pm Mon445 Yeah I know the grey float will cover it, I was just wondering if it's structurally sound and compliant with building standards..fingers crossed the report comes back ok! Mon We had the same thing Mon and building inspector noted down on the report for it to be fixed and they fixed it about 1 week before plastering started Re: HGWA build Burns Beach- 8 months still no slab 380Aug 04, 2016 4:02 pm Lots has been happening! Ceilings in whole house done in a day!!! We had a team of 5! Just pulled up and all the cornices are done too!! Looking fab! Heard back from home group- and of course they said no to fixing the alfresco (so we will have to fix it ourselves after handover) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ So excited about the light trough!
