Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 20, 2015 9:34 pm We are building in Munster . South of river in w.a Originally the house called Luxor was $227,000 We spend a lot more $$$ upgrading the house . After a lot and lot and lot of changes we had our "deal acceptance " on 21/08/14 . Since then we had Prestart on 09/04/15 ( had to wait for an opening !!!) Now I get an email saying final plans have now been sent to you , Yes I thought I signed off on the final plans months ago . I was waiting for slab down thinking it's only a few weeks away, obviously I was wrong!!! It seems like this is taking forever Does anybody else have similar experiences with national homes???? We had to have paving in as it was part of the deal for me to take it out I was getting back $300 so I didn't bother. My brother will take the paving bricks for his farm. The builder wanted 18k to do the exposed aggregate . How exciting Re: Building with national homes Western Australia 3Jul 20, 2015 9:40 pm Love the stackers! that will be so fantastic to open up when entertaining Re: Building with national homes Western Australia 4Nov 07, 2015 6:44 pm How's everything going dellam? Re: Building with national homes Western Australia 5Nov 10, 2015 7:54 pm Hi there The construction is going great!! Currently halfway through bricklaying I'm impressed with how the house is coming along The supervisor and brickies are both very knowledgeable I only down point is the "extras" we got charge for building with national homes. They make up prices for things as they go along, but that is not just national homes that is all builders Re: Building with national homes Western Australia 6Nov 10, 2015 10:07 pm Glad to hear you're having a good experience so far Re: Building with national homes Western Australia 7Nov 30, 2015 12:37 pm HI All, I'm a new user, and we're currently building with National Homes. [Mods, please feel free to move this post if it is in the wrong thread] We had a really smooth admin process, due to us signing the administrative guarantee, however we weren't made fully aware of the fine print which prevented us from making crucial final changes which we only discovered we wanted after we saw the amended plans. We moved past that, and were overjoyed to see our slab go down on 24/7/15. However, that is where National's "Efficiency" stopped. It took them another 3 weeks to have the bricks delivered, then when the brickies finally started, they got to 96% bricks complete within 2 weeks, and then ran out of the 2c bricks needed to finish the internal walls, which led to a delay of 6 weeks to have the bricks delivered and then get the brickies back on site. The roof frame went up fairly quickly, however now we have been advised unofficially that there is a delay in providing the roof tiles, which will potentially be another 3 weeks to delivery. This will mean that if they are delivered in 3 weeks, it will have been almost 8 weeks from the time the roof framing was completed. And then who knows when the roof tiler will be on site. The sparky, plumber, NBN, gasfitter & roof plumber have all done their pre-fit, however the scheduling of this has been so that there has been at least a week's delay in between each trade visiting the site. To rub salt into our wounds, there are two properties behind us who had their slabs poured during and after our bricklayers were on site [the first time], and are now at internal render stage. Am I wrong in expecting National Homes to have their act together? To say we are dissatisfied with our build at this stage would be an understatement, and we are absolutely kicking ourselves for not listening to warnings from acquaintances who had issues building with National. Thanks. Re: Building with national homes Western Australia 8Dec 01, 2015 8:53 am Sounds like you have a crappy supervisor . My supervisor did tell me several weeks ago that there was a demand for roof tiles, and there would be a delay. But I haven't got to that stage yet. Re: Building with national homes Western Australia 10Jul 14, 2016 10:24 pm My House is still in construction The tiler took 12 weeks . Yes 12 weeks to tile the wet areas ( bathrooms , toilets , laundry ) It's a running joke amongst our family and friends . Various stuff ups by national homes along the way, but they are fixing them , they just take for ever . All that matters is what is on your final plan that you sign . Everything else is irrelevant .
