Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 14, 2015 2:35 pm Hello, My builder didn't build the driveway, and I am on low budget now. Is it an option to do most of the work myself like levelling the land, putting the timber frames, iron, purchase the concrete, and hire a concreter to only pour the concrete? Points to consider are : 1-There is a small part in the foot path to be build outside my property 2-Do I need a concreter license to do the part in my property? 3-Do I need a concreter license to do the part in the footpath ? Any other considerations? Many thanks ! Re: Driveway options 2Jul 14, 2015 7:23 pm Hello unless you've handled high volume concrete, I wouldn't recummend you do it yourself with a concrete delivery. You need a fair bit of skill to handle it... It comes out the pump pretty quick. And you can't push it back up the spout if you can't keep up Yes you can do it yourself if you're keen if you do it in sections ie. mix it yourself. My husband has done this himself. He prepped/boxed/mixed/poured/worked his slab for a large 'American Barn'. On his own using his petrol-powered mixer. But be warned, it's hard, physical work.
