Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Custom Dale Alcock in Wellard Village - cabinets going i 301Jun 03, 2016 1:36 pm Left a message for my CLO to call me about the stone. I've got a bit of an idea of what I'd like. I have 3-4 preferences depending on availability. Drove past this morning with Mum with me and we saw there were some men working so cheekily asked to have a look at the kitchen. Turns out it was the tiling team laying the screed. The chief asked me a couple of questions about where the tiling was going in the laundry and I brought it to his attention that the WC is having 1000mm tiling all round. The room layouts didn't show the WC, just the powder. I checked my plans when I got home and noticed it is written on them as a note, on the top left corner, so probably hidden where they fold the pages over! The WC has been plastered so they'll have to scrape it off, but easy enough. I'll be meeting him again at our tiling meeting, not sure when that is due the stone problems. What a bummer about your stone...we are having white shimmer (so the sparkly look). I hope you find the colour/style that you like. Re: Custom Dale Alcock in Wellard Village - cabinets going i 304Jun 03, 2016 8:00 pm I did the one door mirror for our bedrooms as well! If they are doing the screed your tile meeting must be soon? We've been told tiles should be finished by the end of next week. Cannot wait to see them! Re: Custom Dale Alcock in Wellard Village - cabinets going i 305Jun 03, 2016 8:14 pm Got an update from my lady today, I had a decent phone conversation with her, and she emailed me later after she spoke to our SS. We are going to go to Dales Central tomorrow to reselect our stone. The Pre Start lady working tomorrow is expecting us and will guide us through the process. Our SS is going to mention the WC tiling, but we can confirm it at the tile meeting. He doesn't want to book in the tiling meeting until we have a stone installation date, so I'm hoping that we can get that ordered as soon as possible after we make a decision on a new colour tomorrow. Mrs MP, funny story on the wardrobe doors, I ordered the one vinyl/one mirror combo for the 3 bedrooms, but the Study was to have vinyl/vinyl. They've actually installed that one as mirror/vinyl too but I really like it so I mentioned it to my CLO but said don't worry about it! Hope you get exactly what you want for the stone Could you tell me why you chose one vinyl and one mirror please? Umm, I don't really know. Saw it somewhere and liked it. I think my Mum's house (also a Dales) has it like that. I think because I wanted mirrors but didn't want it to be too mirror like. I have seen someone upgrade the vinyl side to a shiny look, glass I think - now that looks really smart! Re: Custom Dale Alcock in Wellard Village - cabinets going i 310Jun 04, 2016 5:08 pm Shame about the stone, that really does throw things off when that happens, but everything is looking really great, such a nice house! Re: Custom Dale Alcock in Wellard Village - cabinets going i 311Jun 05, 2016 3:33 pm Yesterday we went up to Dales Central to try to nut out the stone debacle; unfortunately we didn't get very far in their showroom. We had a look at the white range and concluded only Snow or Organic White were in the right spectrum, but I really wasn't happy with either. I think I've already mentioned I liked the look of Pure White and Frosty Carrina (both upgrades) from the Caesarstone website, so we decided to head off to the Caesarstone display at home base expo in Subiaco so I could compare them too. The lady there was uber helpful and I'm really glad we went there as we think we've almost got it sorted. Both Pure White and Frosty Carrina weren't right with the Marni Lini, and we decided that with the amount of stone we have in the kitchen, Snow was too white. We've always not minded Nougat, except for the chip thing, so our lady suggested that could work in the wet areas, I still don't want to budge on Ocean Foam in the kitchen. We talked about the possibility of waiting for the Ocean Foam, I know they need to get the stone into the wet areas to tile them and do all the sanitary plumbing so I think I've got a compromise. Before I reveal it though.. We left the caesarstone showroom with 5 samples - all the decent size roughly 10cm x 10cm x 1.5cm deep, if you ever need to go there I recommend it - very helpful! Anyway, I dropped the kids off at their friends place and went to the house with my samples of Organic White, Snow, Ocean Foam, Nougat and Osprey to have a think in situ. I couldn't get inside, but lined them up on the kitchen windowsill and at that point had the revelation that Osprey, which I'd previous written off as being a bit boring, was probably the closest to Ocean Foam after all. SO... My proposition to Dales will be to proceed with Osprey in the wet areas to get the ball rolling, HOWEVER, I need to have a really good discussion with them about projected timeframes for the rest of the build. I believe we should be about due for PCI around the end of July, which is the same time that Ocean Foam is due back in stock. By my reckoning, not installing the stone in the kitchen means that the sinks, taps, splash back tiling, hotplate and likely hot water system (as they probably won't want to get the gas plumber in twice) will be delayed. In the grand scheme of things not that much, but they may not be as willing to get some trades back twice. I'm going to try my hardest to get Ocean Foam though, it was the thing I chose first, and all my other colours around it, so I want to be 100% happy with it. Fingers crossed! In the dining room though, we have pretty much everything sorted. I just need to organise my Ghost chairs. We have a fairly solid dark wood dining table and buffet, similar to these, that are coming with us Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And these are the Ghost Chairs, I would love to get proper Kartell ones, but for now replicas from Matt Blatt will have to do! I'm into the indoor plants and pots look that's on trend at the moment, here are some pots I'm eyeing up from IKEA (top) and West Elm. I found our local Big W has a great range of indoor plants - will be heading there when the time comes! The garage doors will be the same colour. Looking forward to the moulding being fixed up around the entry columns and them painting it shale grey. Looks a bit off with it white when it will actually be darker than the render/cladding.
