Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Custom Dale Alcock in Wellard Village - on the final str 422Jul 23, 2016 6:44 pm Here's the direction we're kind of going in for the theatre. As it's in the middle of the house, it's a bit of a funny one, it's got one wall that is completely open to the hallway, and the other has a quite large opening to the dining room. It all steps down 2c, and has a raised ceiling to define it a bit. The theatre is the only room in the house with carpet (dark grey) and we're going for more of an industrial colonial style. Mr W2T has claimed the room to display his lego and watch movies. No kids and wives allowed he reckons We're looking at eventually adding some kind of screen to at least part of the smaller opening, not sure what yet. As in the living room, our manky brown couch is coming with us We are eyeing up this recliner from Harvey Norman or similar to replace it with, given the funny shape room we will need to live in it for a while to work out how to configure the seating. A nice armchair might go in there well eventually. We have a rustic looking coffee table (no pictures) that suits the industrial theme coming too, I think someone in the family made it? As well as a longish TV unit that matches our dining table and buffet. (similar to below) I'm going to offset the TV unit to the right side of the back wall, with a pendant light hanging in the right corner. We've had a fan base put in, but don't know exactly what we want yet. Mr W2T likes the edison bulb look. In the left corner, I'm going to jazz up two existing IKEA billy book cases we have, by adding a skinny one in the corner (you can buy a corner bracket), adding glass doors and swapping the existing shelves out for glass ones. You can get lights too. This is going to become his lego display/DVD storage/bookcase. Yes lego display, he's one of those big kids. I'm the only one in the house that doesn't own lego! Going back to the industrial theme, he has floated the idea of exposed brick wallpaper. I also want to wallpaper the powder room, but to begin with everything is just going to be painted the same grey and we can wallpaper down the track if we decide too. I don't mind the brick, but not sure if it ties in with the rest of the decor (it doesn't) so perhaps something like this? I reckon this room being a bit dark and moody lends itself well to some of my favourite-of-the-moment mid century style furniture. Love love love this marble topped coffee table from West Elm. I love even more this bar! My Mum inherited my Grandad's actually from the mid century bar which is really similar. What I would do for a West Elm shopping spree... We're not massive drinkers, but have always liked decanters and the notion of having a "bar cart" or similar, inspired by..\ I love the crystal, hints of metal, use of different materials (marble, wood, glass) so it all lends itself well. We've also got some vintage framed prints, we've never really known what to do with them so would be nice to get them out again! Last thing I have for this room, is this gorgeous throw from Freedom. Last season they went through an industrial phase, they're also into warm toned leather and the mid century vibe. I think this is quite masculine but still adds some texture to the place. I think I like the sound of this room now, hopefully I will be allowed in! (Seriously). That's the main reason for me extending my garage, to store all my Lego. I have been granted permission to display one or two items throughout the home, including a Lego mosaic. Re: Custom Dale Alcock in Wellard Village - on the final str 424Jul 24, 2016 2:58 pm Love the look of the bar on the buffet/draw unit. Gave me a great idea. Wow he must have a lot of Lego. How do you keep the kids away? As usual all your ideas are great. I'm sure it will look lovely. My poor OH Is getting a TV unit we've had for ten years and a leather couch. He did get a very special black leather recliner with the electric recliner bit. I think it's got gold in the cushions. Looking forward to seeing your house come together. Re: Custom Dale Alcock in Wellard Village - on the final str 425Jul 24, 2016 5:28 pm I love the idea of the ikea bookshelves with the corner piece. I may copy your idea You are getting so so so close! Re: Custom Dale Alcock in Wellard Village - on the final str 426Aug 01, 2016 10:35 am Haha Robina, you make me laugh - gold in the cushions! The kids have way too much Lego of their own - in hindsight I should never have got them in to it! Mr W2T is in to the more collectible stuff like the mini, combo van, ghostbusters car and that kinda thing. Wickie, copy away! So not terribly much action at our place last week, I think they were there doing some invisible jobs though like finishing off the roof insulation. I did manage to get my CLO to give me the schedule going forward though. She has also asked for my oven, I am delivering on Wednesday for installation. Our SS said he didn't want it until right at the end so that's promising! Schedule: 2/8 - termite spray 4/8 - electrician 5/8 - fixing carpenter 6/8 - roof tile maintenance 8/8 - house clean (1st clean) 9/8 - silicone to wet areas 9/8 - fly screens 10/8 - site clean Our Custom Dale Alcock build in the Village at Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78620 Re: Custom Dale Alcock in Wellard Village - on the final str 427Aug 01, 2016 10:46 am I also did a bit of shopping on the weekend, starting with this wee tray from West Elm for the young lady's room (the light blue). It matches her colour scheme perfectly. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Ordered my chairs and bar stools from Matt Blatt. Replica Phillipe Starck Ghosts. Hopefully we can get our final cheque ASAP, I work for the bank so here's hoping! I'm tentatively thinking we might move around 19-22 September. After that it seems half my team is on annual leave so I've got no chance! *IF* we were to get the keys by the 26th, being 2 weeks after the 12th, but I'm hopeful it would be sooner, we would give our 30 days notice for the rental then, if we moved at the beginning of that week that's enough time to get our exit clean and get our keys back just in time. I unfortunately can't buy anything for the house until everything is complete, but once it's finished I can then start decorating. But I'm seeing as something to look forward to once I'm in Re: Custom Dale Alcock in Wellard Village - on the final str 435Aug 03, 2016 10:11 am Just met with our SS at the house, we had to drop our oven off. The sparkies pulled up as we were leaving. They are installing it today, along with the final power point in the ensuite, and then doing all the certification ⚡️⚡️ Our Custom Dale Alcock build in the Village at Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78620 Re: Custom Dale Alcock in Wellard Village - on the final str 436Aug 03, 2016 10:13 am Tomorrow is the fixing carpenter, and then the cleaners. Asked him when we are looking at pre handover, he said maybe end of next week, if not early the week after - right on track for what I expected Our Custom Dale Alcock build in the Village at Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78620 Custom Dale Alcock in Wellard Village - on the final stretch 439Aug 06, 2016 7:24 pm Fricken furious right now! Just been past this Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Fortunately nothing taken but I am beyond mad. Second time some see-you-next-Tuesday has attempted to break into our garage (first they kicked the internal door in) there's nothing bloody in there to take. Also our fixing carpenter hasn't been and we were told he was going to be there on Thursday. So I gather we're behind again anyway and how this is going to need replacing. Not. happy. Jan.
