Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 13, 2015 8:58 am My husband and I have been living in his grandma's house for the past 6 years. It was always our intentions of demolishing and rebuilding but we hadn't found the right place. In November 2014 we stumbled across the Hollywood III from Highbury Homes and immediately fell in love with it.
After reading other stories we have thought we'd keep track of our time lines and experiences to help future readers with their build with Highbury. November 2014 - found the Hollywood III December 2014 - tinkered around with the design to fit on our block. We have a huge frontage of 28m so we needed to widen and only 26m deep had to shift forward and move rooms a little. March 2015 - signed initial PPA April 2015 - first Kior designer meeting for external selections May 2015 - signed our contract documents June 2015 - after 3 weeks wait for the bank finally got loan unconditionally approved. Seriously though no issues with our loan just bank took their time with the remortgage of the initial bank loan. 2 July 2015 - second Kior interior design meeting took us 1 hour rather than the 4 hours allocated. Helps to have your ideas ready otherwise you'll waste your time there. Great thing about the remaining hours we didn't use with Kior is we can use them later for things like paint furniture etc. 10 July 2015 - PRESTART!! Exhausting but we're able to choose everything we wanted. 14 July 2015 - waiting for adenda contract Just realised I'd forgotten the plans [Imgur](http://i.imgur.com/6tV69Xc.png) Re: Our Hollywood III with Highbury Homes 2Jul 13, 2015 9:34 pm Posting to follow, we will be building with HH as well, just waiting for the bank, goodluck with your build. Re: Our Hollywood III with Highbury Homes 3Jul 13, 2015 9:37 pm Can't wait to see your build unfold, Highbury make beautiful homes and my husband has always liked the Hollywood series! What were some of your pre start selections that you really wanted? What were some of your pre start selections that you really wanted? Thanks guys What we really wanted in prestart was different power point and light switch covers. Unfortunately they were $80 each which we weren't really impressed with. We just got the basic and will get a family member (ex electrician) to switch when we buy them ourselves. Other things were timber door and big bulky handles on the front door. Originally we weren't looking at this then we took a trip to home base expo the weekend before and checked them out. One thing I would suggest is check everything before prestart starts. The one thing that we weren't really happy about was the lights. In the electrical plan it has LED lights, in our contract they're all bayonets not down lights, and to change is damn expensive. We went with a few down lights in important areas and left most of the bayonets to be changed at a later time. Welcome to the Highbury bunch Re: Our Hollywood III with Highbury Homes 6Jul 14, 2015 2:21 pm Decka Posting to follow, we will be building with HH as well, just waiting for the bank, goodluck with your build. Decka how is your build progressing, have you finalised your contract and moved to next stage yet? Re: Our Hollywood III with Highbury Homes 7Jul 14, 2015 5:07 pm $80 each??? I can't believe how much variance there is between builders on some things, and how someone is obviously making money along the way! We paid $600 at pre start to upgrade all of our light switches and power points to the Arteor range, this included 2 different designs, plain white for wherever GPOs are on white tiles and a pearl/magnesium for all the remaining ones. We're dying to see some photos! of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them.
