Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 09, 2015 9:41 am hi guys, Lockup stage has just finished. Got a notice from surveyor yesterday, saying the house/floor is higher than the working design(about 300mm higher). Builder says he is handling this. What could be the result? How should I deal with this? Cheers, Re: House built higher than the design 2Jul 09, 2015 10:17 am Can't see how they can "handle it". It's either at the right height or it's not. Whether it's a problem or not is another matter. Re: House built higher than the design 4Jul 09, 2015 11:07 am The fact that there has been 300 mm error is a cause for concern because obviously no one is on top of quality control and there is serious risk there will be other errors. The current error will impact on your landscaping and egress (assuming your home now does not breach planning height restrictions). If you're happy at the height it's at, then it's probably not going to be a big issue. If that level creates problems, then you'll need to find if there are landscaping solutions to it that you'll be happy with, and try to get the builder to pay for the works needed for that.
