We're a couple of weeks from Practical Completion and I wonder if anyone has an answer to whether expansion joints (in brickwork) must be sealed with a mastic, or if the foam inserts are sufficient to comply with the BCA?
Our expansion joints are all correctly filled with foam (can't remember the correct term) but they're not exactly attractive (and I can't see how they would be weatherproof either). Our supervisor seemed to think that no further sealing is required. I think a mastic sealant must be essential.
Anybody know if sealing is mandatory (in QLD) or optional for builders?
I did see a thread on this some weeks ago but I can't for the life of me find it now.
