Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 08, 2015 3:07 pm Hi Just a newbie to this forum we are in the process at looking for a builder in Sydney for a knockdown and rebuild of our current 3bd brick vaneer house. We are looking at also attaching a granny flat to this project. Wanted to know anyones experience with the builders ... looking at Masterton or Rawson Homes but also considering some local builders. Would love some advice as we have no idea about building and what are hidden costs etc from these builders. thanks Re: Knock down and rebuild 2Jul 08, 2015 3:43 pm Hello we are building with masterton our experience is detailed in my blog although we are not doing a KDR there is a lot helpful costing information on there. Good luck https://mandgbuildatmulgoarise.wordpress.com/ Re: Knock down and rebuild 3Jul 08, 2015 4:49 pm We explored an option for a detached building with Rawson during the tender stage and they were quite adamant that unless they were building it, it wouldnt be provided in their drafting plans. You might need to look for flexible project builders that could provide the planning/drafting to give you an approved plan to build the detached dwelling later ( ie. within the next 4 years). If your budget allows though, most project builders will likely do it if they can charge you to build it. Just be aware that any planning shortcuts like a private certifier process will not work if you have a detached dwelling as it will most likely need to follow the traditional DA process. Good luck with your investigations.
