Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 01, 2016 10:52 pm Hi, Is there a computer program that would create a 3d model based on the information from a 2D drawings? I don't expect miracles so I'm happy to type the data manually. Thanks Re: 2D drawing plans to 3D model 2Jul 01, 2016 11:09 pm Found other topics on this subject. I initially searched using 3d phrase but because it has only 2 letters I got no results. Re: 2D drawing plans to 3D model 3Jul 02, 2016 2:05 am Hi have a look at sweethome 3d you can import your floor plan into it and sort of trace over the top of it with walls etc. I was told that one and sketchup, free downloads both of them. I am terrible at it I must admit, but it gives you a look at the house. If you are good it can do great 3d. Re: 2D drawing plans to 3D model 6Jul 04, 2016 12:58 am Looks great. I will definitively give it a go. Re: 2D drawing plans to 3D model 7Jul 05, 2016 8:43 am best program is chief architect. Used it for my house and have rendered pictures of the whole house. Also has a function to take pictures from any angle within the build. Check out my build with the pictures uploaded. Re: 2D drawing plans to 3D model 10Jul 05, 2016 1:11 pm Sweet home can render photos with sunlight shading at any time. It has limitations but it's free and will allow you to get a very good feel. Pm me if you want to discuss further. Cheers Mark Re: 2D drawing plans to 3D model 12Jul 06, 2016 9:23 am Stewie D Any full blown CAD program will do that Aussie141414. I think the OP is after a cheap and easy to learn program. Stewie Nice reply.... No where does the OP mention an easy to use program.... Stop thinking, your hurting yourself... Re: 2D drawing plans to 3D model 13Jul 06, 2016 8:37 pm Wow, dial it back a notch..... I think cost, ease of use functionality. While there is no doubt that the programme you mentioned is far superior there is a substantial cost after the 30 day trial period. Most people on these forums asking about a CAD program are only after something that they can draw their floorplans and elevations with and do a few renders for their house, that's all. For that they want something free like Sketchup or $100 or so. To ask them to cough up $2,700 for CA premier may be a tad too rich for a one off nor the associated learning curve.
