Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 06, 2015 5:38 pm We are building with Dwyer Quality homes on the Sunshine Coast. Signed the contract on March 26th as we were told that if we signed now they should start in April - I suppose the end of May for a start was close. On our first contact we told the person at the display home [who drew up our house and was the contact we used until the contract was signed] that we were in the overlay of the airport and would need an acoustic report before the build for noise problems [maybe] After the plans were submitted we were sent a variation to sign as they needed an acoustic engineers report - I replied that it wasnt a variation as they were told on day 1 - email ignored - as were the next 5 increasingly detailed emails. the replies did not ever mention my emails. I eventually rang the Contract woman to ask what was going on and how could we get things cranking along - only to be told that they would take every day allowed in the contract. To date, almost 7 weeks after they broke ground, we have a slab and some framing on the ground, and they have been on site almost 4 days. The contract is 172 days, 35 allowed for wet, 40 for weekends and public holidays - the rest for the build. Don't know what I can do to get them moving - anyone have any advice? Pete Re: The build speed is amazing 2Jul 06, 2015 6:41 pm I don't think you can, they'll do it all at their own pace. It's only when they figure they're starting to get behind that they'll hurry things up; and they've got a LOT of time built-in, to allow for the scheduling FUBARs that always occur. Re: The build speed is amazing 3Jul 08, 2015 8:07 am Unfortunately that is the feeling that I have. Seems that surprisingly the contract is written in their favour. The frustration is that we can make no plans for when our house-sit is over in mid Sept and the completion date probably now Nov Pete Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense.
