Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 05, 2015 9:33 pm Hi I've found this forum immensely useful, so wanted to share our project which is finally underway. Technically it is a rebuild/extension project, however it feels like a new build in many ways - from the design process to the finished product - which should see all interiors brand new - I hope it is acceptable to post in this forum. Our experience has been a little different from most in this forum - as well as the rebuild aspect, we have gone with a custom architect design, and to complicate matters we currently live overseas. The background and leadup to construction commencing, with plenty of pics of the existing house, is contained in this forum post over in the Renovation forum: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=76028 Construction commenced in June - it was a fairly long road to get to that point - but, fingers crossed, all will be finished in December. Of prime importance to us was something that is designed well for our needs and will be energy efficient - important in the Canberra climate (we will be going from 1 star to 7.5 stars). Here is our floor plan and a couple of external drawings. I'll post some construction pics next, and also share some of our other features. Site prep, including removal of a very large tree, asbestos from the house was removed, then demolition of parts of the existing house, and now we have a slab for the extension Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Rebuild/Extension Canberra - Jigsaw Housing 3Sep 01, 2015 8:36 pm Hi danielk2005, really keen to know how your renovation has progressed? We are considering our options for an old property in the inner North too - unsure whether knock down or renovation is a better option. No issues with trees though so that makes things slightly easier. Leaning towards knock down. How have you found Jigsaw to date? Hi All, see above image.
