Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 03, 2015 7:28 pm I am so annoyed with myself for two reasons 1.) our front window is a plain square standard window not the two rectangle ones like I had expected ( in original plans I looked at on builders website ) but silly me didn't check on the actual plans when we signed off I just totally spaced and just assumed and 2.) our WIR and ensuite don't have separate doors - the WIR leads into the ensuite it's too late to change without outlaying at least $1500 and going back through council planning - what's everyones opinions on the WIR leading into ensuite ? I just am so annoyed I hadn't picked up on it as I looked at the plans 100 times Or does anyone else have any similar stories that will make me feel better ? Thanks everyone Re: ensuite and WIR opinions 2Jul 03, 2015 7:45 pm http://www.gjgardner.com.au/offices/new ... 13247.aspx This is my plan - the 186 - mind you some things are different like the window at the front and we made the study nook our pantry and made bedroom 4 bigger - but the ensuite / WIR I am talking about is the same Re: ensuite and WIR opinions 3Jul 03, 2015 8:01 pm In our current house, the access to the ensuite is via the WIR, and we're doing it the same for the next one. I find it good, because if someone's in bed, the other one can go and use the robe and ensuite with minimal disturbance. It also gives you more wall area in the bedroom. The downside for your design is that it reduces the amount of storage in the robe As far as the windows go, the positive side is that those multiple narrow windows seem to be getting less popular as a style. The single window can look good, but it's a matter of the facade design. Re: ensuite and WIR opinions 4Jul 04, 2015 9:20 am Yeah - we missed things I'd now change. Not major - but annoying at times. Re: ensuite and WIR opinions 5Jul 04, 2015 10:21 am Have you had a quote that that's what it'd cost? All you are talking about is 15mins of a chippies time to stud 880mm of that wall. No extra wall, plaster or door. I'd do it for free. No way that'd need to go through council either. Re: ensuite and WIR opinions 7Jul 04, 2015 10:32 am If it is internal it should not need to go to council. I deliberately made my WIR such that you need to walk through it to get to the ensuite. The ensuite does have a door that can be closed. The reason I put it that way was I wanted to contain things. The WIR is large enough as is the ensuite so I wanted proximity for changing etc. Can you put a door on it. It is very annoying though when you miss things. I missed a wardrobe in my guest suite and now as an after thought we have something not much bigger than a broom closet. Don't over think things, not worth it. Re: ensuite and WIR opinions 8Jul 10, 2015 10:33 am Thanks for everyones help, I have decided to leave it as is - unsure why they said it would have to go through council if it's internal...... but I think there is pro's and cons for both and I'm not too worried now. still disappointed about the windows but I'm sure they will be fine the step up is 30mm and wanting it to be flat . how much does the concrete have to be lowered .we plan on removing bath and lenghten shower and adding seat. the old bath… 0 12482 if i have understood your dimensions correctly my suggestions include using the smallest toilet and wall hung handbasin eg Caroma Urbane with in wall cistern, small wall… 1 8328 |
