Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 02, 2015 4:57 pm Hi Everyone, We are building a Rochford 34M with PD in Saltwater Coast estate. Our land titles in Aug and construction likely to resume in Sep. Having finished with colour selections and tender, we were eagerly waiting for the contract to finish and construction to begin. But we got a shock 2 days back when our BC informed that the developer has rejected the approval citing the home theatre to be too large which has pushed the side set back to a marked approximate 1 meter. Resolution : reduce the width of Home Theatre by 200mm to comply. Our Lot size is 12.5 X 28 m. Standard Home theatre size is 3.5 X 5.4 m but after width reduction will become 3.3x5.4 m. My concern is that home theatre may be narrow and will look more like a train compartment. We have not made any tweaks to the house design and went for a standard house in a standard lot. Shouldn't PD have checked with the developer beforehand to ensure if the Rochford 34M fits in the lot and complies with the developer requirements? Has anyone experienced such a scenario? We are in a fix and thinking of next steps. Any suggestions plz? Thanks, Tanveer Re: Building a Rochford 34M with PD - Developer Requirements 2Jul 02, 2015 5:03 pm That's odd as I just looked at your plan on the PD website and the kitchen etc is the same width as the standard theatre so why only reduce the theatre width? Or is the frontage on your block narrower than the rear? Re: Building a Rochford 34M with PD - Developer Requirements 4Jul 02, 2015 5:42 pm You could just move the internal theatre wall into the hall a it and make the hall a bit narrower if you don't want to compromise the width of the room. Depends on how you plan to furnish the room This was on google.
