Well not for that couple but at least you won’t be towering over both sides. Maybe your Taj Mahal needs to be on a pedestal that it deserves Re: Building Bayside : Our Glendale 45 148Apr 20, 2018 10:40 pm Saint Girl Wow, that’s even crazier than ours! Yep, it's nuts... Wow - it's big... To give some height perspective, my wife is about 175cm tall, and the kids are about 115cm... The guy who owns the concrete company reckons it'll be closer to 170 m³ of concrete now. The thing I find amazing is how much bigger it looks when you can see the polystyrene and mesh in place Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our Bayside KDR Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78298 Re: Building Bayside : Our Glendale 45 150Apr 21, 2018 8:56 pm Wow that is going to be one BIG slab Drew! Weather is looking great on Monday for the pour Re: Building Bayside : Our Glendale 45 151Apr 21, 2018 11:48 pm Dani_J Wow that is going to be one BIG slab Drew! Weather is looking great on Monday for the pour oh yeah... I'm going to "work from home" at a mates' place around the corner, and make sure I get a few photos during the day. Was going to borrow a mates' drone and get some video whilst the pour is happening, but he left for Vietnam today, and we didn't catch up in time I can't believe that it'll take them 6-7 hours and the boxing will all be down and bare slab... You'll be looking at a big beautiful chunk of concrete by the end of the day. Are you getting a pre pour inspection done? Re: Building Bayside : Our Glendale 45 153Apr 22, 2018 9:40 am Dani_J Lol. Excited much?! You'll be looking at a big beautiful chunk of concrete by the end of the day. Are you getting a pre pour inspection done? My best mate, who's a retired builder used to use them himself. My mate's already looked over it, and he reckons the entire slab is overkill, but well prepared. To be honest, this slab is do over engineered that we're not too concerned about it. Plus our slab supervisor has a great reputation with the slab company - apparently he's turned away trucks full of concrete before because he wasn't satisfied the slab prep was up to his standards. We're not using an independent inspection company, given my mate, and I've built before, and have a pretty keen eye for detail, and am familiar enough with the building code to hone in on the areas that'll have the potential to impact us. We are expecting a house built to code, with the best finish the trades can deliver. And we know how to manage that expectation. I'm a firm believer that no-one ever sets out to do a bad job, and we're happy to work with them to get their best, or help them improve to meet our expectations if required. So does this mean the house will be quite elevated above ground level? of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them.
