Definitely worth discussing with the police so there's a record in case they do anything more extreme. Re: Building Bayside : Our Glendale 45 423Dec 17, 2018 8:21 am Thanks guys - yeah, I visited the local police station, and unfortunately because I never recorded it, the whole thing would be considered hearsay, although we do have an independent witness, being the fencer. They did suggest I could front up to the courts this morning to take out an IVO, but we'll keep that card up our sleeves for now. The best advice the officer had was "if they're on your property uninvited, threatening you physically, and you're prepared to be hit, step into it the punch, and go down - you'll end up owning their house, they'll both have criminal records, etc, etc ... " We will also block any and every building or planning permit application they EVER submit against their property for the time in which they own it. They also spoke to the driver about appropriate behaviour. They also spoke to the driver about appropriate behaviour. yeah, I was a bit disappointed as well - the officer said that had he come at me with a hammer or something it's different matter, but given it was really verbal abuse and attempted physical intimidation, that it's a bit he said, she said... As I said to my wife, if he tries it again, I'll step into his fist, then sue him for every last cent for assault... simples Our Bayside KDR Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78298 Re: Building Bayside : Our Glendale 45 427Dec 18, 2018 8:29 am Wild Probably stay away from the trouble mate, just doesn't worth it especially when living with the family and raising kids in the same neighborhood. I'm not too concerned about them getting physical with me, as I worked as a bouncer when I was at uni, and then as a farm hand for years after that - I'm more concerned about malicious damage to our property, which means we're going to have to get security cameras installed... Our Bayside KDR Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78298 Re: Building Bayside : Our Glendale 45 428Dec 18, 2018 11:08 am Drew, don't like giving social advice but reckon, if you're smart you'll back-track a bit, eat some humble pie (no matter how taste-less), and attempt to remedy this getting off to a bad start with neighbours. Maybe take some professional community sector advice on how to do this. Your posts, over a period, have hinted at a just-about-to-deteriorate relation with a neighbour. Your most recent post talk to the punitive. This will tear you, and your family up over the next years and spoil your enjoyment of your lovely new home. On a more general note, folk sometimes comment on neighbours being stand-offish or unfriendly. But, so often, this - and keeping things on a formal basis - is not a bad way to negotiate those first years of living in and understanding the social realities of a new place to live. Drew, fix this relationship, you'll be the more morally powerful for doing so, you'll have a much more pleasant life in your new place. Luck. Re: Building Bayside : Our Glendale 45 429Dec 18, 2018 4:40 pm We've tried kks, everytime we've met them we've offered them a drink, be it cold water on a hot day, tea or coffee on a cold day... I just don't think they're nice people. End of the day, it's a rental property, and if they continue to be abusive, then we'll take out an IVO, be done with them, and move on with our lives, and their agent can manage everything that happens at the property... I know what you're saying, but these people won't ever come to make the peace... That is awful ....but glad it's getting fixed.... These things happen... By rights, the Metricon plumber should have inspected the branch to the sewer main when they made the connection, but obviously that didn't happen, as it's not their issue by the letter of the law... No point stressing over what's out of my control, just deal with it and move on... Wish we had handover before the break, but it is what it is, will have to take leave to move in ...maybe in early Feb....if everything gets done by then. We just got told by Optus that they have no ports in our street so cannot relocate our NBN. Do u know if anyone faced this issue? To be honest, we went away for Christmas to visit my in-laws... our BSC completely screwed up getting our kitchen cabinetry fixed, so we had to cancel Christmas at our house, and go interstate, as I couldn't get the rangehood, and subsequent cooktop and ovens installed. NOT HAPPY!! I'm doing the defect list next week into the portal - it's sitting around 30+ items already... If NBN show serviceability, go with anyone other than Optus. Personally, I'd be going with Aussie Broadband in an NBN area. Aussie owned and run, and all support is onshore now and in the future. Our Bayside KDR Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78298 Re: Building Bayside : Our Glendale 45 438Jan 03, 2019 7:58 pm Drew01 For those who have been playing along with the issues we had with the dividing fence between us and our neighbour with a rental, here's todays' encounter!!! Had an extremely unpleasant encounter with the mother from hell of our neighbour with the rental this morning. After our beautiful new fences being put up, they decided to ignore the fencers' invoice, and sent back a scathing email about how dishonest he is, and that the fence looks "absolutely horrible" (sound familiar for those who've been reading my thread? Same woman, same attitude) So, he arranges to meet them this morning at 10am, and asks if I can be there to back him up, in that he built what they originally demanded. He gets here a bit early, so I walk out with my coffee and have a chat (he's a top bloke), and the neighbours parents rock up. She gets out of her car, and the first words out of her mouth are "what's that f'ing b'tard doing here?" To which I replied - "I live here, and we need to discuss your issue with the new fence." Well, from there on in, it turned into a complete ship fight ... Both her and her allegedly non-English speaking husband, who now speaks perfect English (amazing what you can learn in 6 weeks), proceed to lay into me and the fencer, to the point that I had two fists waved in my face, and being called an f'ing C, Mother F'er and bunch of other choice terms from both of them - yes - including a 60-70 year old woman!!! So I asked for the language to be toned down, as my 6-year old twins were standing on the porch watching me trying my best to get a punch laid on me and was told to get my f'ing kids inside, and that they'd say whatever the F they wanted to, so at that stage I told them to get off my property, or I'd call the police and have them removed. The tirade of abuse continued from the other side of the fence, including being told to "get out of my f'ing sight" whilst I was telling my daughter that the reason the "lady" was yelling bad words at me is "because she's not a lady at all". So, the fencer goes in to discuss the issue with them, including them complaining about the back fence, which had to be extended due to us moving the fence BACK to the survey line, which gave them 2 1/2 foot of what was technically our land via adverse possession. Demands made as to what they want done with the front fence, more abuse hurled at me over the fence, and punched fists into hands as they drove off. Afterwards, talking to our fencer, she's advised him that she's going to take us to the Magistrates Court, which we're simply delighted about, as there is absolutely no chance in hell she can win, given we have essentially given her $20k worth of land. I just wish I'd recorded the encounter on my phone, as it would be all over Facebook by now, or with A Current Affair... Be warned folks, there are some complete nut jobs out there... Wow you did so well to contain yourself. I don’t get it she’s got $20,000 worth of some of your land. And still they are not happy. And your kids were there watching. They should be ashamed of themselves. Can’t believe it. Feel so bad for you having neighbours like that.
