Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building Bayside : Design Change... 41Dec 14, 2016 4:48 pm Just came across your build and am also experiencing the pain of bayside regs. We looked at porter davis, but have settled on a Fairhaven Newport. We didn't have the width for a queenscliff, but that would be a good option to look at if you're still iffy on current options and have the offsets. Re: Building Bayside : Design Change... 42Dec 14, 2016 8:51 pm Drew01 hey WifeofHunza - at the moment, we're completely over it... we submitted our new single floor plans to Melbourne Water, and got knocked back yet again - this time due to their damn easement which they can't even tell us where their asset is in it (big-ass pipe) So.... it looks like that this puts us back to being a 2-storey build ... We kinda like the Metricon Savannah 41RF, as well as the Glendale 34Mk2 with Outdoor Room/Rumpus and 5th bedroom options, as well as the Henley Palace lux Q1 5br. We also like the Cheviot Homes Savannah 388, but need to get a study to be worked in somewhere... Given our flood overlay issue, it's either a custom build or Metricon really, as both will build on stumps... Re: Building Bayside : Design Change... 43Dec 14, 2016 8:52 pm Oh we know the feeling! We have the same SBO overlay however we are in the NE suburbs. We are about to lodge our VICSmart application this week ..... fingers crossed :-?. MW looks at it again and we have incorporated all their advice, but who knows. Your other options will be great to, even if they are not what you had initially dreamed of. This process is such a lesson in compromise isn't it. I say this through clenched teeth! Let me know how you go! Re: Building Bayside : Design Change... 44Dec 15, 2016 7:49 am Geez what an excruciating process to get this far. Imo I would look for the best small custom builder you can find and go with them. Someone with experience with your particular area and restrictions. You might be surprised they're not much more expensive once you finished making all your selections. Re: Building Bayside : Design Change... 45Dec 19, 2016 10:03 pm Hey Andrew, just caught up on your news.... Your not tempted to sell the block to some poor unsuspecting guy who's never heard of a flood overlay? A big pat on the back for your persistence and resilience. There's only so many times you can get kicked in the guts Re: Building Bayside : Design Change... 46Jan 16, 2017 10:13 pm Saint Girl Hey Andrew, just caught up on your news.... They look like contour survey marks. Cannot wait to see what you are going to do. We have finally approval from MW for our plans ..... just now with council via VicSmart so should know in under 2 weeks. Fingers crossed. all the best WoH Re: Building Bayside : Design Change... 49Mar 08, 2017 9:26 am Waiting, waiting... On engineering and drafting... Re: Building Bayside : Metricon Glendale 45 53May 04, 2017 11:55 pm Wow, what a day... After quite a few months, we've decided to build a Glendale 45 with Metricon, with the Chateau facade, and very few changes. We're widening the garage to accommodate our toys, and evening up two bedrooms so the kids have a slightly bigger bathroom, and equal sized bedrooms. I did all of our externals and electricals last week, and we did our internal selections today, and changed a bit of our externals (namely our bricks)... Outside selections are: Glenfern bricks Basalt colorbond roof, gutters, downpipes and garage door Monument Awning Windows - all with 175mm infill 1020mm pivot entrance door in Walnut Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Kitchen/butler's selections are: Osprey bench surfaces Ghostgum lower doors/drawers - we have LOTS of drawers Natural Walnut overhead doors and dual oven tower - all overheads have been increased to 880mm, and we'll have 2x 600mm ovens in the tower - at this stage Asko Pro Series 7's to carry stainless steel as our metal elements Brushed Silver kickers Crystal White glass splashback that I can't recall the colour name of Our bathroom selections are: Oyster bench tops Polar White Cabinets Kids basins - American Standard Cygnet Kids taps - Mizu Bliss Basin Mixer Powder and Ensuite basins - Ideal Standard Active Powder and Ensuite taps - Mizu Bliss Wall Mixers Shower Rails - Nikles Fresh Shower Mixers - Mizu Bliss Toilets - American Standard Cygnet (closed back) Walls: Snowy Mountain 1/2 wash and wear Ceilings: Lexicon 1/4 matte Skirts/Arcs: Lexicon 1/4 gloss Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Flooring: Spotted Gum for all of the downstairs - currently seeking external quotes for laminates as the price to go with M blew out terribly when we realised that the product quoted in our prelim quotes wasn't able to be laid the way we were promised by our sales consultant. Carpets upstairs - will be a shade of grey - undecided at this stage, as we are also pricing externally. Next step will be to get the temporary fencing ordered and book in the demolition. Currently waiting for our VO's to come back to us, and a few other changes to be costed. In the meantime, we've got pre-application permits to submit and get approved... If I can get fences sorted next week, I'll be aiming for demolition to start the following week. Need to book our camper trailer into some storage, and the current house is ready to be introduced to the excavator! We have zero attachment to it as we've never lived in it, so just want to get cracking Our Bayside KDR Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78298 Re: Building Bayside : Design Change... 58Jun 15, 2017 7:52 am Been voyeuring on your thread for a while. Congrats on getting to your current stage!! Know the frustration - we're also in bayside and 10 months into the process, we're starting again with a different builder. Love your color selection too. Re: Building Bayside : Design Change... 59Jun 27, 2017 9:12 pm So this happened last week... And of course the fences are supposed to be on the footpath side of the big tree, which is being removed during demolition. Fencing company was great about it though, and getting it resolved ASAP, so we can start getting things knocked down!
