Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 01, 2015 2:02 pm Hi. We have a block where houses either side are being built. We are nt building until another 6mnths. Now the fences are going up soon so we expect a call to go halves. If we get the bad side of the fencing i heard some peole offer to pay only a third because theyre getting the bad side? Has anyone had this? If so what % did u pay? Re: Going halves in new fencing 4Jul 01, 2015 4:45 pm They shouldn't put the fence up until they talk to you out of courtesy. That being said, they will be your neighbours for potentially a along time, so be neighbourly and pay half and get off on a good footing. Re: Going halves in new fencing 8Jul 02, 2015 12:52 pm aussieta if you have a choice have the rails on your side then your neighbours kids cant climb the fence and look over whenever they feel like it Hahaha yeh tru.. yes ppls the rails side if building normal timber fence is considered the bad side. And i have herd of ppl paying one third for getting it on their side.. not everyone does colourbond bcoz of budget... but it does look the nices.. but these houses have started with timber fencing on the opposit side so i guess theyll continue the trend as both hses are pretty big. SO im guessing they thru all their cash at the house and not the colour bond fencing.. Thanks for ur input... i just hope theyre rich as as do the fence themselves and dnt ask for help lol Re: Going halves in new fencing 12Jul 03, 2015 11:30 am Just a thought - If you go for the 'Good Neighbour' style of fence, there is no bad side as both sides are identical and when we were quoted it was the same price as the Superdek. If one person really whats the dearer fence then I believe they should cover the difference from the cheaper one although if it is only a small difference it might help get the neighborly relationship off to a good start. If you can afford it of course. We are lucky where we are going to build the fences are included by the developer.
