Re: our custom knock down rebuild - Newcastle NSW - demoliti 22Jul 17, 2015 11:01 am I think I was planning my build with the architect when you were planning yours, luckily you asked all the questions I needed answers to too, so didn't have to post it myself. Or you just mean generally? It's great/scary seeing it all come together. I've asked many questions around here, some very silly it if you've no experience in the area and like details as I do there's alot to learn.. Re: our custom knock down rebuild - Newcastle NSW - demoliti 26Jul 19, 2015 5:37 pm Bathroom layouts We aren't happy with the bathroom layout. We didn't think it through enough. Fortunately the builder is reasonable and will allow us to make changes without cost if we advise soon enough. Feedback welcome. The current thought is to make the main bath vanity a single and move it up where the shower is. Down the other end, create a "wet area" with a long narrow open shower and frameless screen. The bath will remain where it is. The towel rail can then go on the existing spare wall. Thoughts, comments? Maybe change the ensuite too.. Re: our custom knock down rebuild - Newcastle NSW - demoliti 27Jul 19, 2015 5:56 pm Hey leksie, had a quick look at your bathroom plan, but not really getting what you mean, can you sketch something? So you walk in room and vanity straight in front then shower then bath? Re: our custom knock down rebuild - Newcastle NSW - demoliti 29Jul 20, 2015 12:15 am TraceyWayne Hey leksie, had a quick look at your bathroom plan, but not really getting what you mean, can you sketch something? So you walk in room and vanity straight in front then shower then bath? I will try and sketch but yes something like that. You walk in and the first thing you see is the vanity and mirror where the shower is now. You then have a frameless shower screen with a shower head behind it. Beside that 'open' shower (hobless) the bath sits (maybe freestanding) and the bath catches any spray from the shower. Something like this on a compact scale.. http://www.archdaily.com/306059/malvern ... h_-20-jpg/ I don't think you would need the step up though if the fall is right? Or does that depend on how they do the drainage.. I'm also concerned this might not be the most practical arrangement with kids, a bath with hob would be better? I guess you can do that in there? But I am thinking of how to best use the space so it doesn't look too cramped... Re: our custom knock down rebuild - Newcastle NSW - demoliti 31Jul 20, 2015 8:46 am Personally I would leave as planned but just my opinion. With young children a hob bath is great for all their 'stuff'. I think there would be issues having a wall between vanity and shower in that configuration as the room is 2100 wide if I'm reading your plan properly. Good luck deciding Custom build Northern NSW viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72217 Re: our custom knock down rebuild - Newcastle NSW - demoliti 32Jul 20, 2015 12:49 pm Also having a shower where the water falls over and around the bath area may not work out very well as the bath would get really dirty both on the inside and the outside from the shower water. That's just from my experience though. Re: our custom knock down rebuild - Newcastle NSW - demoliti 33Jul 20, 2015 1:53 pm Good point, I mean it wouldn't be a direct path just any extra splashes. Fall of the tiles important, if they are accurate it should go down the drain and it would just be any residual splashing. Good luck deciding Yes, I think the same - I wonder if we could still do a hob bath in this configuration I'm suggesting though? There wouldn't be a wall between vanity and bath, just a frameless shower screen.. something like this Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ http://images.adsttc.com/media/images/5 ... cGrath_(20).jpg?1414097893 Re: our custom knock down rebuild - Newcastle NSW - demoliti 35Jul 20, 2015 8:38 pm Hi Leksie, we have a similar configuration in our bathroom for the kids bath inside shower with a screen. Hope it works well we are having a flat floor......other question is there a reason in your ensuite the toilet is not on the same side as the vanity - seems more squeezy the way you have it. Look forward to seeing your house. Didn't want any "line of sight" to toilets which is why it's been drawn thus way I guess. The ensuite door can be open without seeing the toilet. It also provides for some storage washing hamper etc and an 1800 wide double bowl vanity. Hi, they are a local Master builder. It was a hard process choosing one but we've been impressed with their professionalism at least so far. He's a straight shooter. I watched some of your posts closely - how did/is it all going? Re: our custom knock down rebuild - Newcastle NSW - demoliti 39Jul 21, 2015 8:27 am Leksie5000 Art Hi Leksie, All looks great. Great to hear you've found a builder who you can work with(and seems to be flexible with changes early on) - I'm increasing realising having a builder you can communicate with when custom building is hugely important. So many little decisions that need to be made along the way, even with good plans. Our build is going great, getting close to lockup; although a bit slow with all the rain - it seems a lot of trades are playing catchup at the moment. I'll start a thread one day when I get the chance. I've never paid so much attention to the weather than I have in the last few months. Looking forward to seeing your build progress. custom KDR - Newcastle NSW - roof trusses 40Jul 21, 2015 12:40 pm Art Leksie5000 Art Hi Leksie, All looks great. Who are you building with in Newcastle? Yes it's been atrocious in terms of rain. We were slower to get started than originally planned, of course.. Then we had a baby in between! But was actually thinking well the weather would have turned our cut into a muddy mess anyway. Hopefully you are coming along now and not grinding your teeth too much. I'm interested in feedback or ideas on exterior colours. Bricks (front will be rendered) are PGH "pewter" We like colours such as surfmist, shale grey, woodland grey and wallaby.. We want a contemporary grey and white look. I'd always wanted a light roof for heat etc but there are a lot of trees around and thinking it might show up dirty. Any feedback on how to incorporate a scheme with say three colours appreciated.. We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 36902 The biggest challenge will be if you take out a loan and then run out of money - you'll have an incomplete security and lenders do not like this so you can get stuck.… 2 18895 Hi, I am looking into doing a KDR in Melbourne and am contemplating using Kialla Homes. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 13301 |
