Browse Forums Building A New House Re: our custom knock down rebuild - Newcastle NSW - slab! 61Aug 17, 2015 4:48 pm I really like your design. It's getting exciting now! I'll be interested to see what you decide with your bathroom layout. We also considered this but didn't end up going that way. I really like the idea but I wondered if I would get sick of the bath being wet all the time once the kids are mainly having showers. It's probably not a big deal really. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76666 our custom build on 25 acres Re: our custom knock down rebuild - Newcastle NSW - slab! 62Aug 17, 2015 6:43 pm Abztronic Lovely looking slab! Have the rest of the footings been poured yet? Thanks! They did all the trenches reinforced steel at the same time as the slab. The engineer signed off and thy have poured what I think are strip footings (?) in and will do the piers this week. It's amazing how something so simple in terms of the design takes so long to decide upon. But that's what we wanted simple with space where we needed it. Yeah the bathroom was a tricky decision. In the end we've decided on this - Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The joiner was a bit bummed, he loves the wet area but some of the other professionals (with kids!) said that the wet area was too impractical. I think it would end up annoying me. It's a compromise definitely walking onto the shower, but we get a beautiful big 1m shower with a frameless screen, comfortable bath and a good spot for the towel rail. We will make it work in terms of design. It also allows a nice 1.2 metre vanity and the storage with that will be essential (we've got a little girl baby ) Re: our custom knock down rebuild - Newcastle NSW - slab! 65Aug 17, 2015 8:30 pm Leksie5000 Abztronic Lovely looking slab! My strip footings and piers were poured first then we had the base brickwork done. My slab should be getting poured in the next few days Make sure you keep posting pics Re: our custom knock down rebuild - Newcastle NSW - slab! 66Aug 17, 2015 11:06 pm Abztronic Leksie5000 Abztronic Lovely looking slab! So exciting though we have a long way to go Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Not a good close up picture but you get the point. They have a slight shimmer to them in certain lights. This is the PGH sample pic Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We really just wanted a good even grey colour that wasn't too dark or light and didn't have a significant graduation in colour. The front will actually be rendered though. External selections 72Aug 20, 2015 3:27 pm Hi all Here are our external selections. We wanted it contemporary without feeling too 'cold'. We looked at it for awhile, simple can be so complicated somehow.. The timber is for the floors of course and the back deck will also be blackbutt. Re: our custom knock down rebuild - Newcastle NSW - selectio 76Aug 20, 2015 6:24 pm PVBuild Pretty bricks - love the sheen to them. Those floors will be amazing. Yeah the pics just representative but we're springing for the select grade. I like the feature grades for the look and they also cost less but hubby doesn't, I don't think it would have suited our house anyway. Re: our custom knock down rebuild - Newcastle NSW - selectio 77Aug 20, 2015 6:43 pm Great selections!! And lovely looking bricks I'm looking forward to seeing it all come together. I think the wet area looks great and sounds like a good idea but in reality I think it would annoy me also. I like the layout you have gone with. I think it will be very functional. It's very similar to what we have - same size room I think also. Would you consider a cavity slider for a bit of space saving? viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76666 our custom build on 25 acres Re: External selections 79Aug 20, 2015 11:08 pm Leksie5000 Hi all Here are our external selections. We are also going for 'contemporary without feeling too 'cold''. Is the blackbutt your flooring? You have probably already said I may have missed it. Yep it's Blackbutt select grade. We wanted to go for the wide boards but decided to save the $ (and risk of them lifting). The outside decking is also Blackbutt which is why it's there with the outside colours. We will run the boards the same way, I guess and just open the large doors onto the deck so it just has that look of running through. Of course outside will weather nicely over time. We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37352 The biggest challenge will be if you take out a loan and then run out of money - you'll have an incomplete security and lenders do not like this so you can get stuck.… 2 19234 Hi, I am looking into doing a KDR in Melbourne and am contemplating using Kialla Homes. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 13561 |
