Were about to start building an Oxley 29 which is now an Oxley 38 in the Hunter Valley. This thread has been super helpful. Are there other threads you would recommend following? Any Rawson threads of value? KDR with Rawson Homes - The Edge 39 - HANDOVER 26/9/16 562Nov 04, 2016 6:20 pm StephiJayne Any Rawson threads of value? There are plenty. Just search for fizzed, calvinhobbes, katran, red15, bavshan, canberra_gal. You can follow most of the contributors that have posted on this thread. When you follow others, you can learn about other topics that they have participated or commented on. I highly recommend you also download tapatalk on your mobile or tablet. Much better to use and post images directly from your phone, and the topic search and feed is quite useful. Only a moderate level of skill is involved and the way I see it is... Most of the professionals charges are for the Labour involved. It's definitely labour intensive. Money saved on the labour can be spent elsewhere, like paving, plants and other professionals to do my gates and brick fence. A yard stick as to how much cost is based on labour is whatever is added to my costs were for the materials. The costs below might help negotiate a better deal when you are talking to landscapers. Soil - $1000 (6m3 premium organic mix, 12t turf underlay) Soil Conditioners - $200 (15 bags of active Equipment hire - $700 (1 day excavator + 1 day kanga loader) Turf - $1300 / 160m2 I should also mention that I got a lot of help from my brother operating the excavator which helped minimise the hire costs. With some practice you could do it yourself but then again costs would go up. I'll be tackling our turf once we receive our house at settlement hopefully next week. Although our front and back turf area is only half of your space at about 85sqm. Just wondering what turf you went with? Re: KDR with Rawson Homes - The Edge 39 - HANDOVER 26/9/16 568Nov 08, 2016 7:40 pm Daniel5510 Hi, you home and now backyard is looking great! Although they are Queensland based, they have supply agreements everywhere. You'll find their prices are very good. KDR with Rawson Homes - The Edge 39 - HANDOVER 26/9/16 571Nov 13, 2016 9:43 pm Had a spare hour this afternoon to put the first broadline (6 line) up. The masonry set they provide is very good. A bit of fiddling with the line tension, but quite easy to do. Looks good with the monument colorbond match. Only issue is the place where i can put it is too far from the laundry. Out of curiosity considering I also just laid Palmetto over the weekend, how many times a day are you watering and for how long at a time? KDR with Rawson Homes - The Edge 39 - HANDOVER 26/9/16 575Nov 29, 2016 8:32 am For the first two days we watered morning and night, then every two days or so. Lately it's been at night after a hot windy day. According to expert advice, buffalo needs only one thing for the first year, and that's water!! I use an impact sprinkler to saturate each section for about 30 minutes, but as each section gets overlapped it's more like 45 minutes. I should also say that I have treated with molasses and seasol, and after this weekend I will do another dose. It's doing pretty well at this stage considering the weather has been rather hot and very dry for this time of year. Eastern facing yard. Re: KDR with Rawson Homes - The Edge 39 - HANDOVER 26/9/16 576Nov 29, 2016 11:42 am We layed palmetto last year and it struggles in the direct sunlight and also with wear with the kids but in shade it thrived. A nice soaking greened it up quickly so recovery is always good Re: KDR with Rawson Homes - The Edge 39 - HANDOVER 26/9/16 577Nov 29, 2016 2:32 pm That's great to know! Watering is key I guess and the more the better by the looks of it.
