Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 28, 2015 4:05 pm Hi everyone Building is going fairly well for us, a couple of issues have cropped up along the way and here's is another small issue which is fixable. Just want to get a sense of what others would do in our shoes. I have said to DH that I don't want to have any regrets with our decisions along the way. So a couple of months ago SS verbally informs me that we may have an issue with getting our selected colour bond colour downpipes. Mind you the gutters that are in the same colour bond colour have been already installed. The fascia has also been installed but in the colorbond paperbark colour. Further to the mix we are also having a bullnose verandah in the same discontinued colour bond loft colour. Now on Thursday last week SS finally gets back to me in writing that there are 2 options offered to us to resolve the situation. Option 1. If we want the downpipes to be supplied in the selected colorbond Loft colour (dark chocolate brown) then builder are offering to install zincalume downpipes and have the loft colour colour matched & sprayed on but won't be the same finish as the powder coated gutters and fascias already installed. DH and l are so upset with this option. Option 2. Choose another colorbond colour to replace the discontinued loft for our downpipes. What would you do? Has anyone else in Victoria come up against this issue? Re: Discontinued Colorbond Loft downpipes 2Jul 03, 2015 5:40 pm An update. On our situation, today builder organised to have our bullnose verandah using colorbond curved sheets in the loft colour apparently they sourced the materials for our verandah in the discontinued loft colour. But I did one better than our SS, I was talking to the roofing guys as they were installing the verandah and I was lamenting on the fact we had to choose an alternative color from the colorbond range for our downpipes. The roofing guys informs me that his boss has bought all the remaining stock of loft coloured downpipes as soon as the colour was been fazed out. So I rang the admin girl from my builder and passed on the info that I wanted them to install my first preference in colour in downpipes. It turned out to be the best day for both me and the roofing company as I got the coloured downpipes and the roofing company can move some of their stock! Win, win! Devkop The good news it is super easy to fix. Just get your plumber to divert it to the other side of the window.
