Please help me with this.
Our main entry door is glazed clear glass - what type of tint should I use to achieve a zero visibility (looking in from outside at night) if our lights are up?
Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Tinting: Zero visibility from the outside at night 3Jun 28, 2015 8:25 am No - seriously - tint will do this. Maybe some sort of partition ? Otherwise it will be too dark in the day time - ie no good light. Re: Tinting: Zero visibility from the outside at night 4Jun 28, 2015 9:18 am Could try one way mirror tint I've seen it used on cars about ten years ago Re: Tinting: Zero visibility from the outside at night 5Jun 28, 2015 11:05 am One way reflective tint only works if the light on the reflective side is brighter than the other side. One way around is to use a reflective tint, and have a fairly bright light outside. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Thanks for this info bashworth - I am now thinking of having a bright LED on my porch and a not so bright down light inside. Again this is interesting.... With the one you've seen, was the roller blind attached to the actual door or to the door's header/jamb? Re: Tinting: Zero visibility from the outside at night 10Jun 28, 2015 11:54 pm I thought companies who did tinting and the like made some sort of translucent film nowadays for situations like this? I'll be needing a similar solution when my house is done as my doors are clear as well. Re: Tinting: Zero visibility from the outside at night 14Jul 08, 2015 7:07 pm Hmmmm me thinks I'm going to have this same problem but I hate the look of frost film! Some of the bubbly type glass you use in bathrooms works a treat. We had new doors installed on an 80s build recently and found a bubble that is really subtle which I've never seen in a bathroom type window, and suited the doors. Once you move about 10cm back from The door on inside you can see anything from the outside except like a pale shadow. Maybe that would suit the style of door you have. Re: Tinting: Zero visibility from the outside at night 16Jul 25, 2015 2:38 pm We also will have a clear glazed front door (1200mm wide too!). We are planning on putting a screen door on the front of it which will cut down some of the visibility, and it is kinda set back into the porch so not smack bang straight onto the street. I agree with you not wanting frost film, it kinda defeats the point of having a clear glazed door! I didnt want people looking through the glass but still wanted the light to come through. Re: Tinting: Zero visibility from the outside at night 19Oct 08, 2015 6:17 am I've seen a sort of lace/curtain affair. Not sure if its dated or not but can be nice - and private. Allows light in. Perhaps even a design of louvres ? Re: Tinting: Zero visibility from the outside at night 20Oct 08, 2015 7:43 am Hi everyone. There is a beautiful home near us that has a big glass door and it is somehow tinted very very dark/a black/silver. It looks soooooo good! You totally can't see in. We were going to do the same but I feel like I may have to knock on their door to ask! It almost looks like a mirror glaze but not tacky if that makes sense! If I find out what it is, I'll post it on here! Mon You must be new to the internet. You're also the only person anyone here has ever heard of washing their garage wall. I hate to break it to you, there are insects and… 6 4808 I am building in claymore NSW and this is shown in the building envelope plan. … 0 10018 |
