Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 27, 2015 9:33 pm Hi everyone, My partner and I are looking at building in Seaford Meadows with Fairmont Homes. We were looking at building the Lincoln design. We absolutely love this design. We are brand new to building homes, we have never even owned a house by ourselves before. I was just wondering if other people have built with Fairmont and if there is anything that we should be aware of? How much can stormwater and footings come too- ie how much do you think we should allow for? I have read that many others use other businesses for items such as tiling, carpets, concrete etc. I think in order to save money we will do the same. We are a young couple and we dont want to get ourselves into too much debt. Any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to guess $16,000 for your footings, $2,200 stormwater, $2,000 soil removal if not included, $2,200 for R5 ceiling insulation if this isn't included. Do you already own the land? Re: New Builders- Fairmont Homes, Seaford Meadows 4Jul 16, 2015 5:34 pm were in Seaford Vista and our footings came to $16500 (allowance from Fairmont was $17000) First Home - Fairmont Homes - Vogue - Seaford Heights Vista - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78691 Re: New Builders- Fairmont Homes, Seaford Meadows 5Jul 17, 2015 1:00 pm also can I reccomend a salesperson? Wayde Drewitt from Fairmont was ours and he was amazing and so helpful First Home - Fairmont Homes - Vogue - Seaford Heights Vista - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78691 Re: New Builders- Fairmont Homes, Seaford Meadows 6Aug 12, 2015 11:05 am Hi everyone, so it has progressed that we be likely buying a block of land very soon though I do have a query regarding the electrical boxes at the side of the block. Is it on our land or on the councils? Are they of a concern? Do they make a noise at all? Are we able to plant anything around it? Lovely flat land. Look how sandy it is! We currently live at Somerton Park and that's super sandy but we're building at Golden Grove (glugy awful clay!) If you want to know what everyone else who's building with Fairmont think, watch and join this thread (they are all very helpful/supportive peeps): viewtopic.php?f=31&t=73164 I'm not building with Fairmont, but I do pop in and read that thread from time to time. Also S7iCkSt3R is building the Lincoln with Fairmont in Woodcroft. You might want to follow their thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78654 BTW our neighbour has one of those green boxes out front. They finished their build about two years ago and it's not noisy at all. Good luck Re: New Builders- Fairmont Homes, Seaford Meadows 8Aug 12, 2015 11:44 am The green boxes are just connection boxes to wire up the mains to the houses and streetlights etc. So they shouldn't make any noise. Generally they're on your land, rather than the footpath. They're expensive to move though, so make sure you don't want to run a driveway through there. Re: New Builders- Fairmont Homes, Seaford Meadows 9Oct 20, 2015 3:06 pm Hi Guys, so it has been a while since I have posted anything as we have been flat out. Most of our paperwork is complete, there is still a few bits and pieces that need completion. We have our Direct Interior selections data and I have looked around their showroom to see whats standard and what isn't. I am needing to make an appointment for Supreme Kitchens, which I will do in the next few days. What I am stuck on is the bricks, ugh they are driving me crazy! I have started dreaming about different brick colours- how terrible!! Anyway, I love the colourbond dune as a quoin colour. And we are thinking of the roof as perhaps Colourbond Monument. We are stuck between PGH Canyon with a light mortar or perhaps PGH Archipelago with either a dark mortar or grey mortar or even light mortar. We also want monument roof but the rest is hard, we went to pgh for an appt and.the lady was really helpful, she gave us some swatches of render that could work such us, paperbark, evening haze, dune and jasper, so tough and the address are hit and miss as sometimes they render across the front and it makes the trip annoying, I have even been knocking on peoples doors asking which brick but so far I get houses with no one home! Super annoying and something we cant change later either! Re: New Builders- Fairmont Homes, Seaford Meadows 12Feb 10, 2016 6:43 pm I'm liking Canyon, Hubby really likes it aswell we too are in the very early stages of building at Seaford Meadows too Re: New Builders- Fairmont Homes, Seaford Meadows 13Feb 21, 2016 1:07 pm We ended up going with Basalt roof. Grange bricks and dune render. I love the combination, hope they look good when all together on our house Follow my build: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78195&hilit=lana1845 Re: New Builders- Fairmont Homes, Seaford Meadows 14Feb 25, 2016 8:42 pm Hi Marshall and Lana we are also building at Seaford Meadows! We have chosen Liquorice brick with white bright sand mortar and a monument roof/gutters and garage. We are rendering the front but haven't found a colour yet. We want very light grey but not completely white! It's very hard to visualise it all coming together Re: New Builders- Fairmont Homes, Seaford Meadows 15Feb 25, 2016 9:04 pm Hi Cook2091, we haven't done our selections yet. I'm kind of excited and dreading it all at once! I wish we could be shown better examples of how things all come together and how it will look. Exciting times ahead though Re: New Builders- Fairmont Homes, Seaford Meadows 16Feb 25, 2016 9:34 pm I feel you Marshall5858. We are still not sure how it is going to turn out but with most things in the house we just went with our gut and what our budget would allow of course lol. Re: New Builders- Fairmont Homes, Seaford Meadows 17Feb 25, 2016 9:45 pm Which part of Seaford Meadows are you building? We will be close to the display road if all goes according to plan Re: New Builders- Fairmont Homes, Seaford Meadows 18Feb 25, 2016 9:47 pm Bricks can be rendered over and change colour anytime so i wouldnt stress about them to much long as your happy thats what matters my neighbour built with those horrible multicoloured bricks and it looks awful he however loves them each to there own.
