Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 02, 2008 11:13 am We have a house being built in our street, and the slab and frame got underway quite quickly.
For the last couple of weeks, work has stopped, with the frame being only 3/4 finished. Windows have been delivered and are sitting on the ground - just waiting for them to get broken. We have not met the people yet, but our neighbour has. Apparently they are having issues with the frame not being put up correctly. The are fighting with the builder to get it fixed before any more work happens. When we think back to the tradies putting the frame up - it was two young P platers working on their own and they have stuffed up. How are the young tradesmen getting taught today?? Heres a hammer and some nails - go put up a frame?? Where was the experienced tradies supervising?? Please, can we go back to basics and make the young peple learn again. OK Old F**t rant over. Re: New house in the street 11Jul 02, 2008 2:23 pm Hmmmm....maybe the guys who put up OUR frame have moved on to your street, Paula. DH freaked out a little when he saw only "P" plate cars in front of our place at framing stage (and he doesn't freak out easily) .....and look what happened...they framed the front door at the wrong height, and 100mm too far to one side, and now it's been bricked that way!!!!Grrrrrrrrrrrrr .....either teach them how to read a plan, or get someone more senior to supervise!!!! V, thank you so much for the cheery girl....once you start, she keeps rearing her cheery head About the next party - I had a very strange feeling about enjoying a cyber party, I wouldnt dare tell anyone, it sounds a bit creepy - they just wouldnt understand Paula Re: New house in the street 13Jul 02, 2008 10:56 pm after all my roof tiling sagas... deposit paid and quote accepted mid april, our roof is still not complete, we get the "P" platers every 2nd day or so...for the last 2 weeks or so...minus rained off days
but it is 90% done DH went up on the roof today to check it out, some broken tiles need to be fixed. the roof tiler "boss" has turned up a couple of times but the p platers have told me he is in hospital with bipolar disease. absolutely NOTHING surprises me with this roof tiling company now they could tell me that dragons flew in and burnt their elevator to ashes, and who knows, maybe thats what REALLY happened. BTW this company is a boral "preferred supplier" P Platers told me they shouldnt really be working there unsupervised, but they did anyway DH has concluded the company is not paying their tradies enough, and cant keep their tradies on. I'm thinking of installing an electric gate in front of this street front villa (link below). The gate would be between the bush on the left and the letter box on… 0 2778 Thanks! I'm spoke to the builder I'm not sure if this is all true but basically went along the lines of they considered all options and if I was to compact and fill it… 2 7303 Yes well there solution is to blame everyone else while I a 65yr old woman with major medical problems have to just continue to boil water and wash myself in a bucket… 2 16013 |
