I got a quote from sales and following that is another email stating this quote is only valid by end of Jun and there will be rise of cost in new financial year. Have you encountered the cost rise in new financial year? Is it true of sales tactics?
I suspect it will be both. There were actually two price-rises in the 6 months that our tender was valid for, and by the time we signed the contract it had elapsed by 3 months & there'd been another price-rise.
Well unless inflation is zero or negative then there would be periodic price increases. Without them the building companies would be eating into their profit margins. I think it is most likely a bit of both though.
They can put their prices up any time. If it was a genuine price rise and they want your business, they'll still keep the price after EOFY if you decided to go back. EOFY sounds like a good mark to hang that old worn ends-date tactic on. They always give you some BS excuse and date. There is plenty of competition. I'd never be pressured into signing a house contract on a date/tactic. Even if they were genuine about the price rise, if they wouldn't honour a reasonable extension, that's not a good way to start a relationship IMHO.

That sound very familiar. They always say that just too get you sign up. 2 builders did this to me and they got a big fat no from me.
The one that I build with gave me heaps to times to sign the contract.
our sale rep said this to us in june when we signed up and even told us is was going up by $20k and it did. from what i understand every july and jan they put the price up, they also change the house plans they sell. the house plan we choose they stopped selling 6 months after we signed up.
