Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 25, 2015 1:07 am Hi all. Long time - first time. We'll hopefully be owner building our second house after 10 years and hope that this is 'the one', which basically means that we hope to put some extras in where we want as we want to do it once and do it right. Although our block is 619sqm, it has a frontage of only 11.7m and is around 53m long. I work from home as a graphic designer/printer so having a home office accessible from the outside was one of the main reasons for wanting to build from scratch. The house will also be 7km closer to the kids school from where we live at the moment so a saving of 28km per day when factoring drop off + pick up x 2. Below is what it looks like. We wishfully hope to be in there in 6 months time but more likely after Christmas. I wanted to get your opinion on the pool size, as we are undecided on which way to go. (I know, first world problems). We are tossing up between 8.2 x 3.45m (depth of 1.1m - 1.75m) 12.3m x 2.78m (depth of 1.46m flat) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Larger pool is obviously dearer (about +$7k). The benefits of the smaller pool are larger garden space, flexibility of depth, cheaper. Larger pool would give freedom to do laps, fits the long and narrow block and not having to worry about kids wanting to go into deep end as well as people being able to spread out and play ball games etc. If we were to go for the smaller pool, I would imagine that my wife and her friends who have small children (anywhere from 3-10 years of age) would all get cramped up in the shallow end, with kids wanting to go into the deeper end. Also, halfway of the smaller pool would be the depth of the lap pool anyway which is 1.46m. Any advice from pool owners of both sloped and flat bottom and from those who don't have one would be much appreciated. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Custom owner build in Hume - VIC - Tiling Stage http://goo.gl/qpPglB Re: New single storey dwelling in Meadow Heights - VIC 2Jun 26, 2015 11:32 am Any feedback regarding pool size? = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Custom owner build in Hume - VIC - Tiling Stage http://goo.gl/qpPglB Hello All 🙂 We are planning to start our journey of construction our first home.
