Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Hudson Homes 261Jun 15, 2016 1:54 pm As Lizard said, BUT the bank WON'T pay for anything UNTIL the final construction payment is made. We are also doing this with aircon, drive way and carpet. So this option won't work for you with electrical and tiles as they need to be done and paid for well before this point. Perhaps though speak with Hudson and the bank to see if there is an alternate around it, we can obviously only tell you how it has worked out for us which may not be the same for everyone. Re: Building with Hudson Homes 262Jun 16, 2016 1:34 pm We seem to be still in go slow.. Was told the Insulation was to be installed Yesterday, which it was started but of course not enough was ordered to finish. Then plastering done today, hasn't started and on a check at 11:30am they still hadn't finished insulating nor were they there or extra insulation delivered. So here we go with this expected storm this weekend with a 80% insulated house and a big open wall because they still have put the sarking or cladding on it yet... Could be interesting! Re: Building with Hudson Homes 263Jun 16, 2016 3:14 pm Hopefully they kick things into gear tomorrow. Fingers crossed the storm isn't too bad. It's looking better for Newcastle & the Hunter Valley than previously estimated. It will be a wet one though. We haven't heard anything new. We got our file released on Friday so after today they need to begin within 17 business days. Getting closer! Re: Building with Hudson Homes 264Jun 16, 2016 3:49 pm The hill we are on is very windy, so the rain will blow straight in AND blow the insulation out! OR blow rain all over the gyprock... Grrr... They didn't take long to start ours.. Only a day or so.. Where abouts in Cliftleigh meadows are you? Are you able to check the block often? Surveyor pegs won't take long to go in. Re: Building with Hudson Homes 265Jun 20, 2016 7:24 am We're pretty much at the top of the hill on a corner. I'm living between Kahibah in Newcastle and Cessnock (also will be starting a new job in Cessnock next week) so should be able to check often - just honestly haven't had time. If I don't get there one afternoon I'll drive up on the weekend to have a look - hoping we run into some neighbours soon. Re: Building with Hudson Homes 266Jun 21, 2016 4:01 pm New jobs are exciting! Willt ake you about 25 mins from your new house to Cessnock CBD.. I did that drive for nearly the past 2 years. I will have to keep an eye out for any new Hudson's on the top of a hill in there. Well the wind did a number on our insulation! Blown it all over the place. Oddly Friday afternoon there was one young guy plastering who got a bit done considering, but the insulation installed didn't do all they were meant to do so that has put another grinding halt to everything! Waiting game now to see when the gyprockers can get back and keep going but i doub't this week! GRRR Supervisor has been very good to deal with and I am getting regular updates from Sandra too, it is out of their control at the moment unfortunately. Re: Building with Hudson Homes 267Jun 22, 2016 10:05 am Yep! I don't mind the drive. Isn't too far - will be glad when it's built and am living close to work. This is our block (Lot 205). We're the only Hudson Home so far. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Most people's experience here seems pretty good with the site supervisor. I pray to the building gods we get a nice one too Re: Building with Hudson Homes 269Jul 01, 2016 8:42 am Holy moly! That's taking a while. Fingers crossed its done soon. We went and checked it out last weekend - nothing apart from a few pegs and a toilet dumped on the block. Will go again tomorrow - we're at day 15 since the file was ready for construction. Re: Building with Hudson Homes 270Jul 01, 2016 8:52 am Took a few weeks on site before there was even a toilet hahaha.. Gyprock still not finished and it looks like they have run out... wonderful! On going saga continues. I hope the rest of this build picks up because there will be no way the 6 months dead line is met. Re: Building with Hudson Homes 271Jul 01, 2016 8:58 am Loving all the info, thank you ☺ We just received our presentation plans from Hudson what are things we need to look out for and amend. Really appreciating your help! Thanks Cherie Re: Building with Hudson Homes 272Jul 01, 2016 9:03 am Everything Sherie, Go over it and go over it and go over it. Look at measurements and placing of towel rails etc. Once all signed off variations are very expensive so do them now. They are no worse than other builders, but their trades really let them down. Re: Building with Hudson Homes 273Jul 01, 2016 9:08 am Thanks a little worrying as its our 1st build not teal sure what to look out for lol! Fingers crossed the! Will double check everything. Re: Building with Hudson Homes 275Jul 01, 2016 9:14 am Would love to know anything you have learned that you would do different next time apart from what you have already advised. Re: Building with Hudson Homes 276Jul 10, 2016 12:27 pm So we have a slab! Construction started 2 weeks ago with the cut and fill. Slab was poured yesterday! Feeling really positive about the progress just hope it doesn't slow down. Our only concern is with how crooked the slab looks. We haven't seen it in person, my mum visits almost daily and sends us pictures, so we will go have a look. jhiace - how did the gyprocking go? Good luck trying to get a decent response from Harry about that! I'd be tempted to send that photo (from outside the fence of course) to Sandra and ask her if that is right! Gyprock HA! Still not finished.. Yes thats right.. over three weeks and still not done.. Had a meeting with the CEO which was productive, Quality report has been done with numerous issues identified and we have a meeting with the construction manager on site next week. They have started setting the gyprock and had to get more delivered because the guy that was "doing it" butchered it so bad some of it needs to be replaced! The external cladding has been done but and looks really good, so apart from external doors it is finally enclosed! YAY.. Long process.. Hoping to see the gyprock properly completed this week! Re: Building with Hudson Homes 279Jul 17, 2016 5:21 pm I drove past your block today Lizard and your frames are ready to go in! Looking good. We realised today that as of this Thursday they have 8 weeks to finish our build before they go over contract and have to start paying us. We aren't even at lockup yet, I hope they get it done in time but it isn't looking great. When we first met the SS he told us a good build will take 3 - 4 months and a bad build will take 5 - 6 months.. I guess we are looking at a bad build! HMMM Re: Building with Hudson Homes 280Jul 18, 2016 7:46 am Slab isn't great, but they admitted fault and it won't effect anything. Yeah things are travelling really quick, although they've warned us it will slow down heaaaaps once exterior is complete Oh wow! They'll be rushing to meet that date now! Hopefully they get moving Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74717 I would never build with Fowler homes.
